North Cheam branch, Christmas grocery shopping at 7am this morning. Lovely, peaceful and quiet. Abit of an issue with shelf stackers and staff doing customers food orders, but fair enough a busy time of year. Thenβ¦ at 8am they turn on and ramp up the tired repeat of the Christmas music. So loud in some isles. So what went from a pleasant shopping experience, suddenly changed to a more stressful environment. Why, why, why? Donβt even get me going about there only being two tills open and queues for the self service. Merry Christmas!

I've been having problems with the small trolleys at North Cheam. They are very erratic in their behaviour. You can be pushing them quite happily when they suddenly come to an abrupt stop with no warning. It's happened several times within the shop and twice at the pedestrian crossing outside the shop. When they stop, I have been propelled against the handle, the trolley tips up and another trolley hits you from behind . This can really jar the back. It then takes moments before the trolley can be pushed again. I have spoken to the manager and it seems his hands are tied as the new brakes on the trolleys are to prevent people running off with them! He also suggested that I was pushing the trolley too quickly! I'm a 75 year old woman! I dont do 'fast' with a trolley. I have spoken to other friends who shop at Sainsbury's and they have had the same experiences. I have spoken to another customer who has severely damaged her ribs from a run in with these rogue trolleys. She HAS reported this to the management at North Cheam and got the same response that I did! She is a professional gardener and is unable to work at the moment because of it. I really think you should have a rethink on the 'new brakes' as it seems to me that you may be putting company security before customer safety. Surely in this day and age there must be a better way to prevent theft than injuring your customers.

Watch out for an awfully bad attitude from the till attendant when getting the tags removed from the steak packets. Two steaks clearly shown on the receipt, but the attendant claims to only see one. When I pointed out the other steak with my thumb, the attendant tried to snatch the receipt and then became irritable when I tried to show him the other steak on the list. Then when leaving the store, the alarm goes off despite having paid for everything in the bag. Come on Sainsbury's!

Trolleys are a bit trash- hit and miss - youβll be lucky if you get all 4 wheels working and smooth and not stopping abruptly with you falling over the handle looking like an idiotβ¦. The supermarket in general is nice. Most staff are friendly and helpful.

Good parking, easy access, plenty of variety, most importantly they had on stock what I came for.

I have shopped at this branch since it opened. It's very convenient being on the doorstep... metaphorically speaking!! For me, there are no real downsides, and the Starbucks, Simpsons, Argos, and Sushi Bar have all been welcome additions. The only bug bear is the insistence of a move towards the automated checkouts. Undoubtedly, older people will approach these with trepidation. Often, on a Saturday, the number of tills available is kept to a minimum. The lottery/tobacco counter is often undermanned, resulting in a considerable wait. It's apparent that staff are kept to a minimum, and from time-to-time, it's a little galling. There should be two on the counter at a minimum. One to process returns and one for lottery/tobacco. All these are minor whinges and won't prevent me from shopping there.

Always clean, lots of choice and well stocked up no matter what time of day I go in. I was so pleased to see pink grapefruits back in stock after so long, I wanted to find a member of staff to hug. Instead had a chat with a lovely young lady worker who was very helpful. This is my favourite supermarket.

I've been using the click and collect at Sainsburyβs North Cheam since March 2020. Until recently I would have given them 5 stars: very friendly, quick turn around, and the pickers usually got things right. Unfortunately the collection site has now been βupgradedβ. Wait times now run to 30 minutes, even when there are only a couple of people waiting. The (new) staff on the ground are still friendly and do their best, but the new system is a disaster. With disgruntled customers and frantic staff, the experience really has become quite unpleasant. Iβll be taking my custom elsewhere.

The store has gone downhill. The shelves are being left empty. Most of the checkouts are usually closed making you to wait for ages . The car park is 3 hours maximum stay and no return within an our. So if you forgot anything you can't come back or they will charge you Β£100. Overall a very poor customer service experience.
