Such amazing service, staff are so helpful I have never had any bad experiences within this shop. The owners go far and beyond to help. And if there was anything that I wanted and it was not there of sold old I was reassured that he would get the teams in. I shop on a daily basis at this shop all home and food essentials, I’d rather help and support my local shops than the supermarkets. I have never found anything that was out of date everything in date in fact. Like any supermarkets they sell things that are or will be reaching there best before date. And people still buy. This doesn’t mean it’s out of date it’s down to the individual if they want to buy it. Overall I give valley supermarket Charlton 5 stars there should be a lot more like this. Continue doing what you do best and being the best shop in Charlton.

I would like to put -1 but I can’t. Today I had a really upsetting experience at this local, that I feel I need to share — not just to get it off my chest, but to make others aware. I went into the shop with my child in a small buggy (not a big pram — just one suitable for a 3-year-old). As soon as I walked in, the man (owner) working there told me I had to leave the buggy by the entrance with him while I did my shopping. I didn’t saw any sign that buggy’s aren’t allowed or something and the shop arranged it’s not my responsibility. I politely explained that I wasn’t comfortable leaving my child at the inside at the door — and that I preferred to keep them with me at all times, as any parent would. Instead of understanding or trying to help, he became rude and started raising his voice, telling me the buggy was a problem because the aisles were narrow and that my child could damage something in the future. I told him, calmly, that if anything were to happen, I would take responsibility and pay for any damage. But then he mocked me, saying things like “Yeah that’s what you say now, but later you’ll just say ‘Oh I’m sorry’ after your kid breaks something.” I was shocked. I asked for a complaint form and he refused. Instead, he kept arguing, even pulling in random customers who had no idea what was happening and using them to try and prove his point. He said other parents had left buggies with him and didn’t complain — as if that meant I should do the same. I told him he was being rude, and he just kept minimising what I was saying and accusing me of “changing the subject” when all I wanted to do was shop safely and respectfully with my child. I left the shop feeling humiliated and disrespected, and honestly, just sad that some people still treat parents — especially mothers — like we’re being unreasonable for simply wanting to keep our children safe and with us. No one should be made to feel like that in a public place, especially in front of their child. And I hope sharing this will make others more aware of how important it is to stand up for yourself — politely but firmly — when you’re being mistreated. I will not be returning to that shop. Parents should not be pressured to leave their children unattended — ever. And no staff member should speak to a customer that way. Thanks for reading. Please feel free to share or comment if you’ve experienced something similar.

The shop has had new owners for the last few years, and the first thing they did was to pile the shop high with a massive selection of everything you could possibly want. They pay great attention to hygiene, keeping the shop clean n tidy at all times. Run by a lovely family, you won't find a better shop locally.

It was only a quick visit, from the looks of things they had a very large variety of products. The potatoes I went in for tho were very little to feed a family of 8, however it is only a little corner shop.

Sorry, I stopped going there when they raised their prices significantly during the first lockdown.

Been here for many years all you need as a convenience store go,s just be sure to check prices though, as has been known in this store to over charge on products.

Disgusted with new proprietors. Unfriendly rude con artists. Just visited again (05/01/20) and not only rude again. But refused me an item as he didnt know the price of the product he sells. Need to get his house in order.
