Charged us £50 for a a croissant I didn't even notice. Not even apologictic. Mocked is for for looking at our receipt. Make sure you check your receipt for what you got. Don't let them rush you

Well located store with the car park, unfortunately like most Lidl stores queues are most of the time fairly long with no self checkout tills available if you have one or two items to pay for. Edit: Self checkout added after refurbishment

The store is very clean and well laid out staff are rude. I pointed out that one of my items didn’t scan and she rudely snapped saying are you sure. I was just trying to pay for all my items and make sure that I was honest. I just had gotten off work aswell and I know how difficult customer service is but I would’ve never snapped at a customer for being honest. They had just done change over and the lady before was apologetic that I had to wait when swapped over happened. 15/07/25 19:17

I understand this location used to be a police station from several years ago before it was left unused and then became a Lidl shop. I know Lidl as a Dutch shop although German owned so it was a welcome addition to UK and I was the very first customer of the particular one here in Dartford when they opened, I bought their very first sold item. I have always liked to go there even though it's across the road from Sainsburys, but much smaller. There is parking which isn't big but sufficient I believe and you always have to be a shopper with receipt scanned for your parking approval. Now they have an access control swing barrier before the shopping floor entrance in addition to the sliding doors, the first sliders at the very outside entrance, you step into a space the access control swing gates then the second slider glass door that opens into the main shop. It's the usual shop layout similar to Aldi as you always find a new arrivals miscellaneous isle or two where you find new items for the week and once they are gone they are gone, but no self service like Aldi. They have a bakery which is there as you step in on the first isle right and you get fresh bakes, wines to the last isle far left, cold foods, milk, chicken etc to the rear and sides, home items and expected stuff in the main middle and a marked down section. As a foreign owned shop you get certain bespoke items, a cross between Germany and Holland, you often find shortlived deals and bargains and seasonal DIY items too. There have been good managers/staffs and the purely malicious ones like Andy, I have had to complain about some treatments received in there, not sure what actions have been taken however but you do get responses and follow up emails to your complains. I did stop attending the shop for a long while due to mistreatment. The shop does what it says on the tin and they have managed to serve the area well, they open till quite late aswell so that's good news

The service levels at the store are consistently declining. Despite it being a Saturday morning, they only had three tills open to serve customers. The result was long lines that extended halfway across the store. I waited in the queue for 25 mins. Furthermore, the store's lack of concern for health and safety is concerning. They frequently place pallets right in the middle of the lanes, obstructing the path for shopping carts. It’s fine when they are refilling but usually see carts when no staff is around with empty carton boxes. The staff members handle these pallets carelessly, posing a risk to customers' safety. I've had several close calls with them almost running over my toes. On one occasion, I discovered a shelf with chocolate that had visible bite marks from a rodent. I privately informed the manager about it, but he dismissed it and claimed it wasn't a rodent bite. However, the evidence was clear in the pictures I provided. The manager removed the item from the shelf without even expressing gratitude or addressing the issue properly. I am a regular customer at this store, relying on it for my weekly shopping needs. However, it's about time they prioritize getting the basics right. While they may offer affordable food, they should also strive to provide a decent customer experience.

Lidl is what it is, if you want named brands this probably isn't for you, but it's good options and relatively cheaper prices always make it a reliable option to that end, but the availability of things varies enormously from store to store so you can't guarantee getting what you wanted. It's basic, but you know that before you go in. Some of the staff aren't always customer friendly but hey dealing with the general public is one of the hardest things in any job. If you want fancy there is some fancy deluxe stuff but still not at the high end prices.

Surprisingly busy for a Sunday.... the narrow aisles make it prone to shopping cart traffic jams though. Parking was just about enough though not an issue on weekdays. Must must must remember to scan your receipt before exiting to get the 90- minute free parking!
