I am disappointed by the way this establishment treats delivery drivers. Staff frequently ignore drivers upon arrival, often refusing to acknowledge them even when the bell is rung repeatedly. Their manner is routinely curt and unprofessional, creating unnecessary delays. This behaviour does not only affect drivers but also inconveniences customers waiting at home for their orders. A more respectful and efficient approach is urgently needed.
I went to my local branch in Upminster today and as I always do after scanning all the items I selected all my vouchers from the Waitrose app and I then scanned my Waitrose card. One of the vouchers would have given me £1 off an item I had bought, but that £1didn’t come off the total amount. I checked my vouchers again and saw that particular item voucher was not selected despite selecting it along with all the others, they showed as selected. Every time I tried to select the voucher again I would get an error message telling me that it failed. I tried to get assistance but there was no staff members around the self checkouts, eventually the staff from one of the checkouts came over to assist me, she kept repeating that it was an Internet error, as if somehow that was my problem. She also patronised me by asking if I had selected all the vouchers before scanning the card as if I was too stupid to know this is what I had to do! I told her that I always select all the vouchers before scanning the card, so she should not have assumed that I hadn’t. Then the attitude was that I was asking for too much and somehow I was at fault because I mentioned that I could’ve got a £1 off but it didn’t work, then she reluctantly advised she could offer me the £1 off but she’s not supposed to do it, and she would so anyway as if doing me a favour! Bad attitude, I didn’t need that.
Visited to buy 2 boxes paracetamol, 2 boxes ibuprofen, and a non-medicated cooling gel for my partner’s migraine. At self-checkout, the system flagged the items. Louise, the staff member, told me I could only purchase 2 boxes total of either tablet. Although I’m a pharmacist and know there’s no legal restriction on ibuprofen, I accepted this as store policy and asked to buy 1 box of each. Louise then demanded ID, despite me clearly being over 25. Unfortunately, I had not brought ID with me. When I said I’d just take the cooling gel instead, my partner also kindly asked Louise to allow it, explaining how bad the migraine was. She even offered to show photo ID from her passport, yet Louise still refused- insisting that even as manager she couldn’t make exceptions. Zero empathy, zero customer service. Amazing that the system won’t flag a bottle of bleach, but it will flag a non-medicated cooling gel. Thanks to Louise, I won’t be returning. PS: Walked across the street to a local pharmacy and got all the items I needed- no fuss, no issue.
This is really a fantastic shop in more ways than one can get their around. Well stocked store with friendly staff and very helpful as well.
Helpful staff, clean and tidy store and good stock. Quite a lot of vegan options too!
I was disappointed in their lack of gluten free and dairy free products. Price wise the store is on the line with M&S. Although they had a few Christmas Chocolates there was very little frozen food. You have to join in order to get their free magazines which is mainly receipes. Not sure how beneficial the card is. I rarely go here probably won't again for some while l.
I was in waitrose upminster and waitrose billiarcay on the same day. I noticed more vegan choices in billiarcay and also a promotion on magnum vegan almond in billiarcay that was not available in upminster. The general upkeep of tge otger store, the functional parking etc made billiarcay better so i naturally had to give 4 star to upminster store.
Just like John Lewis, Waitrose is always a pleasurable experience and this branch doesn't disappoint. Lovely staff, layout and products.
