Absolutely dreadful experience with DFS. I ordered a sofa and footstool online. The sofa arrived damaged and the footstool turned up in a totally different colour and material — even though it was advertised as a matching set. When I complained, it only got worse. Their so-called repair man told me to “iron out” the marks on my brand-new sofa and then ignored me. The store staff were rude, sarcastic, and actually hung up the phone on me. They kept insisting I couldn’t have a refund because the items were “specially made” — which is simply not true and completely misleading. After weeks of stress and chasing, they finally agreed to take the items back — but then charged me £150 for collection, even though the goods were damaged and not as described. That is unacceptable and against consumer law. This whole ordeal dragged on for over three weeks and left me completely fed up. Terrible customer service, dishonest excuses, and money taken unfairly. Avoid DFS at all costs.

We visited the store after a failed attempt to buy a sofa from a nearby retailer who ignored us. We were greeted within minutes, not with a pressured sales conversation but with a friendly hello from the store manager who then introduced Mike. We were shown multiple models and explained the pros and cons of each. The store manager also gave us plenty of advice on each model and helped us choose one to meet our needs. Time wasn’t an issue and we never felt as if we were rushed to make a decision. Throughout the sales process it felt personal and not just as if we were being sold from a script. This made a difference when we explained the experience we had when trying to buy a sofa before. Mike and the store manager were attentive, pleasant and brilliant to deal with. From a personal view, buying our furniture for our first home should be a memorable experience and they both made that possible. So much so, we will certainly be back in the future. Thank you both.

I will update once I have the items. I can't speak for people who walk in for a browse as I had rung to ask if a particular item was on display. Andy answered the phone and when I popped over to the store he showed me straight to the item no fuss just there you go, let me know if you need anything I'll be around if you want any advice. Perfect. Unfortunately, I did not like the particular sofa for my purpose but we saw another we did like and Andy while off asked Phil to call me to process the order so i could get it all sorted once i had tine to think about it. All very simple and hopefully they arrive later this month.

Generally good quality furniture and a large store which makes browsing easy. Beware of constant sales however, as prices seem to have a life of their own. There is also a long, convoluted process if an item is damaged, which involves sending photos, having the item inspected and then repaired, which is not acceptable for something that is supposedly "new", so bear that in mind before purchasing. Otherwise communications are good, and drivers usually stick to their delivery slot.
