Lauderdale House is such a lovely breakfast spot, full of history and charm. I had avocado on toast with a latte and sat looking out at Waterlow Park before heading off for a walk.
Historical house in Waterlow Park with a nice cafe. These days the house has been converted into an arts centre. Built around 1582 with a timber frame the house was passed in 1645 to Earl of Lauderdale as his wife inheritance. In the garden there is a sun dial that aligns with the top of St Pauls’ dome. The house these days is quite modern as a fire destroyed most of it in the 60s.
I only visited the cafe but can recommend it for a decent coffee and pastries. The terrace has seating and fine views over Waterloo Park.
I had a wonderful time at Lauderdale House for their Nowruz Festival! The event was beautifully organized, celebrating Persian New Year with a fantastic mix of music, dance, and cultural activities. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with stunning decorations that truly captured the spirit of Nowruz. Lauderdale House itself is a lovely historic venue, perfect for community events like this. The gardens added to the charm, making it a great place to enjoy the arrival of spring. I really appreciated the effort put into showcasing Persian traditions while also making it an inclusive experience for everyone. Looking forward to attending more events here in the future. Highly recommend both the venue and their cultural programs!
A lovely place! There were two different photo exhibitions, one downstairs and the other one on the 1st floor. Nice to have a coat hanger by the entrance. It’s easy to get from Archway tube station, but it is uphill. There are two nice pubs on the way there and you can see two churches on both sides of the road. It looks like there are art sessions for children and other activities. There is a grand piano and I wonder if they have a concert or recital at this place.
Great place for coffee, teas or lunch with a couple of art galleries to browse. Definitely worth a visit

Special events are always exciting, with great music, food and entertainment. Overall, Lauderdale House is a great place to visit and explore. Highly recommended!
I usually enjoy going there, I like the atmosphere and also the coffee, until one day I went there and ordered my coffee, the barista told the cashier what I ordered to make me pay in a very " it's a Mario" Italian accent, they both laugh and when the cashier ask the barista if was Italian he said " oh the hell no!". Unfortunately even if they, hopefully, didn't realize that, I am in fact Italian, so was kinda a very unpleasant moment. Even tho, as most people, despite my country and its citizens and I am kinda used to that, I found it very deeply unprofessional...
We had our team day here in Lauderdale. The place was ok clean, toilets are clean. We spend a day here, the food that they prepare for us was good. The coffee is ok as well. But garden I wasn’t able to explore more that’s why I gave 4 star only.
This is a pleasant place located at the edge of Waterlow Park and I highly recommend whenever you come round to visit both. The tiny cafe area, although it doesn't have a large variety of items, receives you with friendly and professional staff, Sam being one of them. I've noticed exposed there two paintings created by Victor Carlin, an exquisite artist. The view is awesome and soothing and the house hosts exhibitions, music events or art classes as well.
