Mishandled Case — Charges Dropped but I Spent 8+ Months on Remand I had a very disappointing experience with GQS Solicitors. I was charged with a serious offence in 2024, but later the charge was dropped by the CPS after my co-defendant fully admitted responsibility. Despite this, GQS failed to take timely legal action — they didn’t oppose a custody time extension, didn’t apply for bail again, and didn’t provide me with my own defence documents. As a result, I spent over eight months on remand for a crime I didn’t commit. Communication was poor, and their complaint response felt dismissive and unaccountable. I’ve now escalated the matter to the Legal Ombudsman. I would not recommend GQS to anyone facing serious charges. Their failure to act caused real harm to my mental health and reputation.
This company is shocking!! Never ever would recommend them to anyone! Ishfaq has the poorest attitude towards his clients. So glad I’m done dealing with these people. The only decent person at this company is Rochelle, she has gone above and beyond, she’s the only one to have kept me in the loop, and she’s not even a solicitor. Poor service completely from start to finish.
Called in advance to ask if they can sign a form. I made them aware I only have an online copy they said I can bring it in and can email to print it. Walked in receptionist was friendly and greeted us. As soon as the solicitor came he was super rude, where's the form where's the form? Face looked like he was incapable of smiling. I explained I only had an online copy and clarified this the receptionist said she did say that. He looked at her and said no we shouldn't be doing that. She looked at me embarrassed and helpless. My husband was disgusted at his behaviour and so we walked out. I guess a measly £10 job is nothing when you're making 100's. Sad thing is we live local and thought we would support local.

I dealt with this firm in 2009. Mr Qadir misadvised me numerous times and lead me to a unnecessary crown court appearance. Their appointed barrister was terrible and instilled me with complete dread, ultimately it cost me time and money and could have been dealt with at the first opportunity. Was later told by a solicitor that GQS was well known for misadvising people and if you were getting legal aid, telling you to plead not guilty and goto crown court then advise you to plea guilty to make more money out of you. In my opinion, avoid.
