Amazing staff in the blairbell, Luton, Simpson wards. Very caring, reassuring before and after delivery. I can't thank them enough! Parking wise here, its awful. I advise to set off 20 minutes earlier so you can find a space. More often than not you'll have to go to the overflow at the bottom, however even then it can be full.

Appalling hospital, my child was forced to stand with appendicitis whilst families took up all the seating in the waiting room and the staff did nothing, when we tried to take him to another hospital the guy behind the counter in reception threatened us. The hospital is filthy and resembles a war zone with elderly people lying unattended and thirsty on trolleys along a&e corridors and beyond. Most revelry my son had a serious sporting injury and we waited staring for 6 hours whilst families enjoyed picnics and waited for free calpol when they needn't have been there at all!

I came here as a GP referral and I was still here 13 hours. All I can say is the staff managed it well. Kept everyone safe, done welfare checks every 2 hours and one special member of staff named hazel staff nurse in ED was absolutely fantastic, she was so attentive, compassionate and she is an example of what a nurse is all about. I do hope things get better for the NHS but as it stands it's not the staff that should tolerate the negative impact as they do all they can understand so much pressure. Thankyou for looking after me.

    1. Main Entrances & Orientation • The Croesnewydd Entrance is a primary entry point, often used by patients and visitors. • Another key reference point is the Outpatients area and the Main Outpatients Department. 2. Major Departments & Wards (by general area) From the main entrance/outpatients zone, here are the prominent internal destinations and how to describe their routes: • Special Care Baby Unit (2nd floor) Route: From Outpatients, proceed upstairs (via stairs/lift) to level 2 — follow signage to the SCBU. • Pharmacy, Children’s Ward, Eye Outpatient, ENT Department Route: From Main Outpatients, walk down the central corridor; these are clustered to one wing, accessible via signposting at corridor diverge. • Day Case Unit & Pasteur Ward Route: Located along the same central axis—continue further down the corridor, following marker signs for “Day Case / Pasteur.” • Audiology, Medical Library, Medical Records Library Route: Near pharmacy & outpatient block; accessible via corridor branching off Outpatients area. • E.N.T Ward, Dressing/EEG/Admin Corridors Route: Adjacent to ENT outpatient block—clear signage along intersecting hallway. • Cancer Services (Shooting Star Ward & Reception) Route: Typically in a separate wing; from main corridor take directional signs to Shooting Star ward (possibly upper floors). • Pantomime Ward, Prince of Wales Ward, Pasteur Ward Route: Accessible via corridors beyond day-case, follow internal signposting for ward names. • Mental Health Wards (e.g., Clywedog, Dyfrydwy, Gwanwyn, Hydref, Tryweryn) Route: These wards form a cluster—follow main corridor signs, they often branch off a distinct mental health corridor. • Surgical & Specialty Wards: • AMU Assessment & Short Stay • Erddig Ward (General Surgery) • Mason Ward (Orthopaedics) • Morris Ward (Elderly Care) • Onnen Ward (Community Rehab) • Pantomime Ward (Gastroenterology / General Medicine) • Pasteur Ward (Day Case Surgery) • Prince of Wales Ward (General Medicine) Directions: These wards are generally arrayed along corridors extending from general entrance areas or off a central cross corridor. Use signage to pinpoint the precise hallway. • Out-of-Hospital Services & A&E: • Emergency Department / A&E: Available 24/7, accessible via emergency drop-off zone or inside directions. • Fracture Clinic, Eye Injury, Minor Injury, X‑Ray etc.: Located within the A&E/ED block—follow signage upon entry or ask reception for precise location.

My father has been admitted to Maelor hospital to emergency unit. I have to say the staff is amazing and took a good care of him. Everyone was very friendly and professional. I couldn't ask for abetter team to look after him. I do have to add that it could be even more effective if they have a few more stuff to get the workload off the existing one. But still this is higher management issue. The stuff, nurses, doctors cleaners are absolutely amazing and they work really hard to make sure everyone has got what they need. Thank you.

Attended A&E this morning (22.1.23). Cannot fault the care I have received; professional, caring, efficient, and most importantly very thorough. My thanks to you Amy, and your nursing colleagues. I felt the need to post this, as there are many negative comments, and our wonderful NHS is not praised enough. KAF

Had my son delivered here on Christmas day! Everyone was so helpful. The teamwork for the delivery was brilliant! The only downside was they were short staffed - really hope the Govt can sort this out and support the staff that do amazing work and show great mental resilience to go through this.

I’ve recently moved into the Wrexham area and transferred my midwife care when I did. I had never visited the Maelor hospital before and so was apprehensive about giving birth there. I was a low risk pregnancy and therefore admitted to the Midwife Led Care unit. Upon admission I was assessed and then shown to a private room (Room 2). The room was wonderful, so lovely I cried with happiness. I had my own birth pool surrounded by fairy lights and led candles, a music system, and calming projections onto the ceiling. My birth experience was absolutely fabulous. The midwife who oversaw my delivery, Karen, was wonderful. A calming presence throughout my labour. Baby was born 11am on 16th October and we were discharged by 4pm as I had a straight forward delivery. I couldn’t fault a single aspect of my experience at the Blair Bell unit and would like to say a huge thank you to all involved. I am beyond grateful for having the birth experience I had always hoped for. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Have used the Maelor hospital several times over a few years for different reasons. I must say what a great service they have provided each time. The staff were friendly and efficient. Cannot fault them. I attended on Friday 14th October from reception to receiving treatment was excellent and all done within an hour. Thank you so much.
