I attended a consultation for an ADHD referral. Instead of a professional medical review, I was subjected to a hostile, interrogation-style encounter. Ms. Haden ruled out my ADHD concerns based on dangerously obsolete stereotypes, claiming that because I maintained 'eye contact' and 'sat still', I could not have the condition. This displays a complete lack of understanding of NICE Guideline NG87 and the well-documented phenomenon of 'masking' in adults. To use visual assumptions to deny a specialist referral for a neurodevelopmental condition is a gross failure of clinical duty. Furthermore, she acted as an illegal 'gatekeeper' by pre-emptively refusing to honour my legal 'Right to Choose' (RTC). A clinician has no authority to unilaterally block a patient’s statutory rights under the NHS Constitution based on personal bias against external providers. Her attitude towards a non-native English speaker was equally disgraceful—showing visible impatience and annoyance when asked for clarification on medical terms. This practice is failing its patients by allowing such arrogance and clinical ignorance to persist. A formal complaint has been escalated to the Practice Manager, the ICB, and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). If you are seeking neurodivergent support, avoid this specific clinician at all costs.

Update - Louise a manager called and helped resolve this issue. Credit where credit is due, she is a very professional individual and her humanity speaks volumes- thanks. Haydock Public Information: NHS England requirements. All GP practices in England are required to maintain online booking functionality during working hours. However, this does not eliminate telephone booking options. NHS England guidance clearly states that "patients should feel confident that when they book or request an appointment, whether online, on the phone, or in person, their needs will be assessed swiftly and safely" . Furthermore, the Department of Health guidance indicates that practices must continue to offer multiple access routes including telephone, online, and in-person services to "ensure fair access to advice and treatment" . The government specifically implemented these changes to "end the 8am scramble" while maintaining telephone access, with the expectation that "GP phone lines across the country will be freed up" by having online options available . If you encounter issues please direct complaints to [email protected]

My doctors, who are brilliant, had no appointments so one was made at Haydock for the following day (Saturday). My son no longer needed the appointment so when I ring the number given, with plenty of notice, it was the out of hours surgery. They informed me the appointment could not be cancelled as they only accept out going calls on a weekend. I was then told to ring back on Monday and "grovel". I then received a text message from Haydock to say I should have notified them. Something like this should be simple, I now understand why they have problems on a larger scale.

Waited half an hour on hold(as apparently number 3 in the queue from 8am) for an appointment only to be told they don’t give them out over the phone anymore and a message had gone out saying as such, checks the message on the app and it says that you can request an appointment either via the website, on the phone or in person. By the time I’d waited on the phone then filled the online form as told there was no appointments left. I can only assume either anybody that can’t use the app or website will now just never get an appointment or the receptionist I spoke to just fobbed me off on the phone for ease

Got a text to tell me to have a medical review with a health care assistant within 7 days or my repeat prescription may be stopped, tried to go through the link supplied but got nowhere, phoned the surgery only to be told ( no appointments available till after at least 4 july) receptionist didn't know why I had a text because she couldn't get me an appointment even after that date, what a shambles. Don't blame the receptionist at all, not there fault

Abysmal As in every workplace, there are 2 or 3 staff here trying their best. (Excellent mental health nurses, and one or two receptionists who are trying to keep heads above water) I don't like leaving poor reviews, we're all human. Unfortunately any good here is swallowed up by incompetent, uncaring administrative staff who either speak to you like you're stupid, or a huge inconvenience. The only GP I've seen more than once was more about concerned practising acupuncture than keeping accurate medical records. There is incredibly poor communication (if any) about referrals and on-going conditions. The latest merger with Modality was meant to improve things, apart from a new sign, not much has changed for patients. They need to admit they can't cope with the amount of patients and throw some of us out to other practices. I for one would be first in the queue to leave.

All the appointments I've had, been told they had tried ringing me, even though they have never even seemed to bother to try. As still, for past 3 weeks no one rang me for third appointment in a row, and been said it's my third DNA (Did Not Attend) appointment, even though I haven't missed anything, as this service couldn't even bother ringing me for the appointment? Wish they could just transfer my care to my GP, rather than dealing with these.

My father went for an appointment for a serious condition. He was given a referral to Walton over a month ago. They haven’t gotten back to him for the last 6 weeks. When he rang the doctors they said the hospital has yet to respond and he would need to chase them. When he called the the hospital they confirmed they responded on the 12th Sept and are waiting for the doctors to contact them. My father is coping with his own medical issues that are being ignored while caring for my mother who’s has cancer. You are an absolute disgrace, your service is absolutely disgusting and you should be investigated for a massive lack of care about f duty for your patients. I will be putting in a formal complaint about this surgery

Have been a patient here for over 40 yrs. A lot of changes during that time. I have always received excellent treatment. I use online services for repeat prescriptions & enquiries. I would like to be able to make appointments online too but whenever I have tried it is unavailable. Otherwise I am satisfied with the practice on the whole . Just remember it isn't the person in front of you or at the end of the phone who is responsible for your complaint. A little respect goes a long way

I've been waiting for medication for weeks; each time it's issued, I'm being issued my bridging prescription rather than the one I need. Constantly ringing them leads nowhere. Emails go around in circles. The doctors often ring me from an anonymous number in the evenings when I'm busy. I'm never notified of when I'm likely to get these "appointments". I'm fortunate that my mental health isn't suffering, ADHD medication aside, because I can really see how this behaviour from the clinic could make someone crack & need in-patient mental health care.
