This company does business the way the Queen of Hearts conducted the Knave’s trial in Alice in Wonderland: 'Sentence first - verdict afterwards.' They completed the work – a consultation – and 2 months later sent their estimate, along with a late request to sign the contract. The pricing information I was given was sparse and as transparent as mud, so I challenged the inflated bill. But Mewies shamelessly defended it, conjuring up an imaginary narrative of what had been agreed. In the end, they cut the bill by more than a third and lost a client.
John Mewies was the duty solicitor at Skipton Police station when I was arrested. He gave me no instruction whatsoever and let me talk myself into trouble. Had he simply told me to answer no comment to every question I would have got off. Instead I was convicted. I don't believe he was so incompetent not to know this. I believe he was in collusion with the Police to convict me.
My 90 year old father wanted to update his will but didn't know where to start. I contacted Mewies remotely on his behalf and they were very helpful. Ms Leslie Tuck arranged to visit him in his home ( he is fairly deaf and not very mobile ) and drafted his new will for him. Once he had had time to review it and ask any questions, Ms tuck visited him again, this time with her PA, and the two of them witnessed his signature on the final copy. Dad said that they were very helpful and polite and all of this was done for a very reasonable price. Dad and I were both really happy with the service and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this solicitor.
