A truly wonderful little hotel. Tastefully decorated and immaculatly clean, with so many little added touches. The landlady was so accommodating and gave us some great recommendations for places to eat and drink. Close to markets and shops.

Positives: nice cute little place with interesting decor and close to the city centre Negatives: the host tried to take a deposit from us not previously agreed, she then bragged about threatening to call the police on a previous customer for being too noisy and honestly seemed like she didn't want us to be there, tiny rooms, bathroom doors don't close, incredibly uncomfortable and squeaky beds. Would not recommend, a Travelodge or equivalent will likely give you a compatibly priced and better experience.

We had an awful experience here on 20 September 2025. We stayed as a group on a hen do, and the owner decided to last minute tell us that the kitchen and communal area was closed for "work" even though it has been specifically promised by the owner when we booked it and was the only reason we stayed there. She then went on to force a £200 deposit to be paid on the week of our booking which wasn't stated anywhere on booking.com and surprise surprise she then wouldn't give it us back as the back door lock has misteriously broken even though we never used it and it never locked. We only paid the deposit because we didn't want to risk not having a place to say the week of the hen do, which is obviously her tactic. It's a complete scam staying here and I'd avoid at all costs. The owner is rude.

Be cautious when booking this B&B. Our experience was disappointing from start to finish. About a week before our stay, we were informed that the communal areas would be inaccessible due to “work,” though there was no indication that any such work was actually taking place. We were also asked for a last-minute deposit that was not returned, despite earlier assurances. Communication around this was confusing and unprofessional, which added unnecessary stress to our trip. The accommodation itself was also below expectations. The bathrooms felt dated, and the towels were very worn. Overall, the quality didn’t reflect the price, and the hassle surrounding the stay made it even less worthwhile.

Tried to rip us off, asked for a last min deposit and tried to charge £50 to replace 2 dirty towels, lucky booking.com gave my deposit back as she should have taken it in the first place. Light had about 10 yrs of dust on them and shower had no pressure and was on the bottom of the shower rail as it was broken. Horrendous experience

Owner was lovely but sadly our room was very much over priced, half of the £95 per night we paid would have been reasonable for the small double room we got, it was too cluttered and not very clean. Found hairs in shower and on ledge. Was cold first thing with condensation dripping off window handle, paper is peeling off the ceiling with dirty marks also, bathroom door doesn't close well and stain on duvet cover, im sure breakfast was included in our original booking but we were told on arrival it was an extra £10 each payable in cash only on the day ?when it arrived it was cheap shop bought produce and was not a full English as promised as no eggs available. We declined to have any the next day because of this. The promised Garden View was more car park and roads than garden. Im glad we only had 2 nights here. Parking cost us £10 the first night and £9 the 2nd night so not cheap. We wouldn't stay here again sorry. Location great

Looks nothing like the photo but secure. Directly across from the multi storey car park. Short walk into center. Room was small but comfy. Wouldn't probably book again if in the area

Extremely underwhelming, asthetically pleasing and very quirky decor but executed very badly, our room was absolutely freezing, dust build up on every picture frame and door frame, bed sheets had stains, advertised as luxury, but no luxury to be had, we ended our stay early.

We really enjoyed our night stay, was very comfy, room was perfect, area was nice and close by parking, very safe and secure, plenty of amenities close by, Host was lovely and very helpful, couldn’t go wrong, would 100% stay here again.

Had a one night stop over in Chester and stayed at Maison Claire and was not disappointed. Lovely room with comfy beds and literally 2 minutes to wine bars, restaurants and the start of the shops. Had a lovely Indian meal at Bombay Palace round the corner. Would definitely stay again.
