   Completely disagree with the 1 star post. Nice owners that will leave you be, clean and tidy apartment. Yes it's not brand new and some parts of the floor aren't straight but it's not a trip hazard by any means. I could also barely hear any road noise - it's next to a road not in the middle of a forest so obviously you will hear something but never to a point of even noticing it. I've stayed there for 14 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. I do travel a lot around the UK for work and I have had experienced bad accommodation . This wasn't one of those. I highly recommend it.

   Not very welcoming and complete disaster After leaving 2 hours of our arrival. We required our luggage to be dropped off before normal check-in time, to spend time in Chester, which in this property was after 3 pm. Mike the owner said it could be left in fowler in the front entrance. He offered to take our luggage up to the accommodation. Firstly, I was appalled the front door lock was broken and didn't work properly. Secondly, on arriving back at 5.30 pm I found my bag containing valuables left in the foyer with an unlocked front door. Had I know this then I would have taken the luggage up ourselves. It was forecast a very hot day. The host made no effort to open one or two windows to cool the place down. The noise level coming from a nearby road was so loud throughout the day and even at 8:30 when we left and could still be heard after all windows were shut as well as a dog barking constantly. Not a good place to relax. I will never book anything through Sykes Cottages ever again or Michael Martin's place which he calls Dragen's Den.. Furthermore, My mum was looking for the bathroom and fell over because the carpeted living room floor was uneven. My mum is a 79 year old elderly lady, which made joins more painful. The floor board in the kitchen were noisy and squeaky every time you went into the kitchen. On the staircase was a vase although it was narrow enough for my mum and I found it difficult the maneuver especially carry luggage as well. On leaving mum noticed a white patch on my elbow that had obviously come from somewhere in the flat. I honestly would recommend to choose another accommodation if you are planning to stay in Chester for a while. I'm a qualified hotel manager with 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. It seems to me these kind of businesses are so different these days and not offering no quibble refunds. Very disappointing. What made this particular situation worse it was my birthday the following day and because my mum had worked in a business all her life without a break she had never taken a holiday in England before ever believe it or not. I do believe most standards have dropped as fall as the leisure and accommodation industry is concerned. I suggest 'The Dragons Den ' Chester stay weel clear.
