The staff are friendly and very helpful. The hospital is bright, cheery and very clean. Appointments appear to run on time and booking further appointments is quick and easy, without the usual long wait.

Our family have used KIMS Hospital, Maidstone on several occasions for private GP appointments, Consultants consultations and surgical procedures. The service and treatment has always been wonderful, but my most recent experience surpassed even their high standards. GP appointment within 4 hours of phoning and ENT consultant appointment within 2 hours of request. I will always be an ardent fan of KIMS and wish to express particular thanks to Christine in the Bookings Team for organising everything so efficiently.

Referred as an nhs patient..The appointments needed were done quickly..Silly things like a free coffee machine in reception gave a welcoming touch however this soon changed and they started charging £1.50 for a basic coffee. My consultant came across as friendly to start with and after deciding I needed a total knee replacement this was organised pretty quickly I was told the pain would be bad after the op and they would aim to get me moving the same day with an overnight stay . As I trusted my consultant I went by the videos sent that made things look straightforward rather than doing my own research. I was not told about all the other issues I could face from both the op and the spinal block . Neither did I see a ot or pt until the day of my surgery to discuss aids etc to be put in place to help post op.Food wise there is little choice rather than basic healthy food for the menu is more like they are catering for a Michelin star not recovering patients . I was offered a choice of either cooked breakfast, continental, cereal or toast and fruit juice ,( tea or coffee even the nhs offer juice and a hot drink plus toast as well as cereal . I was not offered a hot drink at any time apart from with meals, the nhs have a free drinks trolley to help yourself any time on wards.i had a quick visit from my consultant to mark my knee for op and was told I was last on the afternoon list of three my appointment time to arrive had been 11.15am so food cut off was 5am and fluid cut off 9.15am however I did not go down for surgery until late afternoon by when I was starting to get dehydrated which didn’t help with cannulas.I had a quick visit from the anaesthetist who didn’t really put my concerns and fear of a spinal block at ease and yes it was painful .I was then told in theatre although it was not the same as a general I would be given something to make me sleep during the op however I could hear the drills and banging of a hammer and chisel and feel the force of them being used pushing me up the bed .. Unlike when I have had surgery in nhs I did not have a visit from my surgeon or anaesthetist to confirm all was ok with surgery.. On discharge I was given no info on things to be concerned about and the ward would do a follow up call which never happened . I had crutches at home as apparently it’s not easy to get them to borrow .I was also not told that the ibuprofen for pain relief could not be taken with fragmin injections so pain relief was limited for me. I was able to move my knee on discharge however not warned that it was because the spinal would have still been in the system so was worried when I had no bend the following day and unable to do my post op exercises They brought my pt session forward a week and I could certainly bend the knee slightly after that along with even more excruciating pain . Since having my staples out I have a piece of flesh that appears to have popped out where the top layers of skin had not healed after a second physio session which now keeps leaking a yellow fluid so looks like I will need to get to a walk in unit if I can get a lift to check it’s not an infection . The pt jack on the ward was great as were Philip and Kyle staff nurses , most ward staff were nice but a couple made me feel I was a bit if an inconvenience.Would I recommend the hospital ? mixed feelings there. certainly not what I would expect from a private hospital standard . Do I think they are happy to just take nhs patients do what’s needed as minimal to get the nhs payment to keep the them subsidised financially ? Yes. Has the service and treatment made me think private is better than nhs ? No Do I think more info on procedures and after care etc should be given ? yes Do I feel if you are treated there under the nhs you are treated differently from private paying patients due to them not having to try to keep you as a private patient for future issues ? Yes

My experience at Kims was first class! From beginning to end i.was kept informed of my upcoming surgery which was a total knee replacement. The staff were exemplary and the care I received could not be faulted. I would not hesitate to recommend Kims. Thankyou for looking after me. My recovery is going well. Mr Chan Jeer is first class in his field.

Private patient experience as an NHS funded patient. A couple of very small admin hiccups but quickly rectified. My Surgeon, Mr Nik Bakti, is just excellent. His reassuring manner and extensive expertise is first class. The Consultant Anaesthetist, Mr Rob Williams, was equally reassuring and put me at ease while putting me to sleep. The recovery team were so nice and the Nurse looking after me afterwards was lovely. I will always want to go to KIMS Hospital if I ever need any further treatment.

I cannot fault this hospital and staff. They work tremendously hard to treat you as an individual. My experience was an overnight stay for foot operation,. Every member of the orthopedic team, from surgeon and his team to care nurses, porters, reception, were kind, caring and extremely hard working. They were all angels!

After suffering with kidney stones in October 21 I bit the bullet and spent a smidge under £5000 and was told by Mr Tom Smith at Kim's that after my operation blood tests would be taken and my kidney stones sent off for analysis in order for me to know the cause of the stones and take the right course in diet/medication to prevent it in the future. After my operation the pain from the stones never went away, and after being told results for the stones analysis should take no more than 3/4 weeks, after nearly 4 months of asking for an update on the results I was eventually told they was never sent for analysis! I paid £4900 for my kidney stones and I still don't even know what caused them, the pain never went away and after making many changes to my diet and increasing water intake daily I do in fact still have kidney stones in the same kidney less than a year later with the pains never actually having gone. Unacceptable.

My wife was previously booked to have surgery at The Spire Alexandra, however it was a complete debacle. They lost her blood results, cancelled her surgery (which she had waited 4 months for) 3 days before the date and then gave her a new date in 3 months time. We spoke to Kim's and they had my wife seen the same day by a new consultant, bloods and pre-op assessment were carried out in

A very good experience across a number of visits. A relative of mine had their Hip replaced here, it was a completely different encounter to their NHS hip replacement. The surgery itself was far better, much less after care needed, anaesthetist was way better and they were home sooner. I've also been in on a couple of visits and it works like a well-oiled machine, hardly any waiting around. Such a shame NHS hospitals cant function as well as these places. It serves illustrate just how much reform the entire NHS needs if we want to repair it, money is not the magic bullet, the problems lie far deeper and are definitely not a simple.
