Worth a stop here There are a lot of information boards that give a brief history of the Roman ruins and a great example of a Roman bath here

My Visit to Chester Roman Gardens, Chester The Chester Roman Gardens are a peaceful and fascinating spot just a short walk from the city walls and the Roman Amphitheatre. This small but beautifully maintained garden feels like stepping back into ancient history, surrounded by remnants of Chester’s Roman past. I loved how the gardens combine archaeological ruins with a tranquil green space. Scattered throughout are original and reconstructed pieces from the Roman bathhouses, columns, and mosaic floors, all thoughtfully arranged with informative plaques explaining their origins. Walking through, you can easily imagine what life was like in Roman Chester nearly 2,000 years ago. The setting is calm and picturesque, with benches and flower beds blending perfectly with the old stone fragments. It’s an ideal place to pause, rest, and soak in some history after exploring the nearby city walls. The view of the River Dee and Old City Wall from the gardens makes it even more scenic. Visitor Tips: β€’ Entry is free, and it’s open year-round. β€’ Combine your visit with the Roman Amphitheatre and City Walls walk β€” they’re all next to each other. β€’ Visit in the morning or late afternoon for soft lighting and fewer crowds. β€’ Perfect for history enthusiasts, photographers, or anyone looking for a quiet break in nature. Overall: A hidden gem in Chester β€” peaceful, educational, and full of Roman charm. A lovely blend of history and greenery in the heart of the city.

A surprisingly tranquil and well-maintained spot right in the heart of Chester! The Roman Gardens offer a peaceful escape from the bustling city streets, with a lovely collection of Roman columns and stonework set amongst beautiful greenery. It’s not a huge site, but it’s a perfect place to sit for a few minutes, appreciate the history, and soak up the atmosphere. It's a great spot for history buffs and anyone looking for a quiet moment. Plus, it's free to enter! Highly recommend combining a visit here with a walk along the city walls.

Gardens are absolutely amazing and well maintained. There is no litter and graffiti to be seen. Lovely to walk around at your own pace and take in history. Well worth a visit

Well worth coming down off the roman Wall to catch this gem and then take a walk down the river. The sun blessed us with its presence- its a beautiful walk

The gardens are well done for what they are, which includes a few Roman ruins and signage. There isn't a ton to see, and the items are not originally from this site (they're from around Chester more generally), but if doing the city walls walk it's easy to take a 5-10 minute detour to walkthrough.

Chester, Cheshire England Roman Gardens and the Roman Wall is a must see! Historical 16th century Roman history. Walk and stand on the very wall that Roman soldiers once stood and guarded the city more than 2000 years ago. Tour the Roman Gardens and the King Charles Tower. Enjoy lots of shopping and local eateries.

The Roman Gardens are located just to the right of the city walls. Easy can be had from a set of steps taking you down from the walls by Newgate. These gardens have been 'laid out' since 1949 and includes real Roman building fragments but these have been sourced from elsewhere in Chester.
