   This free to access museum has displays spread over 2 floors accessible by stairs or lift. The history of the Romans in the area is particularly well done and this was where I spent most of my time. There is an excellent gallery with silverware alongside detailed relevant history. There are a number of other galleries, including a small art gallery. There are also several videos to watch and interactive games etc spread throughout the museum.

   Large museum with a wealth of artefacts and displays inside. The grand 19th century building provides an impressive setting for a wide range of exhibits, covering Roman history, local geography, industry, animals and much more besides. The museum incorporates 20 Castle Street, a 17th century house which showcases authentic depictions of rooms from the 17th to early 20th centuries. There's a vintage style tearoom here where you can pick up a hot drink while reading the information sheets provided. The galleries are all well presented, with plenty to read without being overwhelming. Interactive displays add to the appeal to families. The Roman gallery in particular was very nicely put together, with a fine collection of archaeological finds to see. The museum is free to visit, with donations welcomed. Well worth visiting to find out about the city of Chester, and an ideal indoor attraction for a wet day.

   What a wonderful museum experience this was! Really interesting displays, some small interactive pieces, and a lovely mix of Roman, Chester and UK history. Would 100% recommend for a visit to Chester. It's a free museum but we both gave a donation to support since it was so enjoy.

   Fantastic place if you like history about the Romans and much more and it's free plenty to look at inside and things to do ,a tea room that takes you well back to the old days toilets disabled toilets a lift for anyone to use and a gift shop with lovely friendly staff such an interesting place for any age all Free apart from coffee shop and gift sure and even those are cheap

   Good museum in the centre of Chester. Medium in size, takes about 1 to 2 hours to get round, displaying lots of the history of Chester including Roman times etc Definitely worth a visit. Free entry but they more than welcome donations. No parking, so park on town car parks where signed. Small gift shop, toilets on site.

   I enjoyed walking round the museum. The experience was good. The staff were so polite and very helpful. It's a small museum anyway, but it is surely a good place to visit in Chester. The museum is very clean and COVID-19 conscious. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Chester.
