Location is quite good in between Holland Park and High Street Kensington. Check-in smooth and swift, Veronica and Ricardo were super welcoming, helpful and shared all necessary information, with a smile. Rooms are generally clean and acceptable. Ensure you book the correct room and en-suite is better, also recommend selecting a bottom bed if climbing up is problematic, having a padlock for your locker, adding breakfast during booking as it works out cheaper. Breakfast buffet is simple but decent including cereal, pastries, boiled eggs and toast, as well as a coffee machine. Recommended!

My experience at this hostel was disappointing and not what I expected from a place like Safe Stay. At the time of check-in, I wanted to extend my stay, but the receptionist (female) asked me strange and unnecessary questions. Instead of clearly explaining the available room options, she kept asking how many beds I wanted and said she could not allot a room for the next day. I told her that I could share my budget, and based on that she could suggest available rooms. However, she did not give me proper options and kept questioning me without explaining anything clearly. When I said that a 15-bed dorm would be fine for me, she later said that this option was not available at all. After a lot of requests, she finally informed me about another room, but it was over my budget, and this information was not shared transparently from the beginning. Additionally, when I asked another receptionist (male) if there were any nearby restaurants, his response was very rude and insulting. He said, “They are very costly, you won’t be able to afford it.” This kind of statement is highly disrespectful and unprofessional. I did not expect such behavior from a place like Safe Stay. On my first day, when I wanted to buy a water bottle, there was no stock available, which is a basic necessity for guests. The room conditions were also not as promised: Beds did not have proper curtains, even though curtains were clearly shown in the pictures. The bed sheets were different from the photos. The pictures showed purple sheets, but the actual sheets were white. There were no pillows or proper bedding initially. The triple bunk beds did not match the photos shown online. Overall, the hostel does not match the pictures or descriptions provided, and the staff behavior was rude and unhelpful. This experience felt unfair and misleading. I strongly believe the management needs to: Improve staff behavior and communication Be honest and transparent about room availability Ensure that facilities match the photos shown online Maintain basic essentials like water bottles This kind of service is not acceptable, and I hope Safe Stay takes this feedback seriously and improves for future guests.

This place was a fantastic find for me. I made a last minute booking and managed to get a bed in a four bed dorm. It is not the easiest place to find, especially when the park is closed. You need to follow the footpath up the side of Holland Park and look out for a fairly hidden entryway. There is a sign, but you have to be paying attention. To reach reception, you ring the bell at the entry gate, then walk through a short tunnel, up some steps, across a courtyard, down more steps and around the corner into the lounge and social space where reception is located. The staff were really friendly and the reception area is light and airy with plenty of tables for people to sit, chat, eat or relax. The food is basic but well priced and absolutely fine. Rooms are spread across several buildings. Mine was in one of the older ones and accessed by a key card, which also opens your room. The room itself was simple but had everything needed, and the heating worked well. Each bunk bed has a light and a power socket, and the bunks are larger than in many other hostels. The only drawback was that the nearest toilets to my room were out of order, so I needed to use the facilities on another floor. The showers had good pressure and plenty of hot water. The bathrooms were generally clean, although a couple were smelly and at least one toilet was blocked. I added breakfast and it was good value, with everything you would expect from a continental breakfast including cereal, juice, toast, coffee, tea and more. Overall, it was a lovely stay. The staff were great and it is somewhere I would happily come back to.

I stayed here on a school trip. I really enjoyed it except for the place we stayed. The rooms were not cleaned properly. I slept on a bottom bunk and round the edge of the room there was dust. In our building there was also lots of mild and damp. There was no where to hang coats or jackets and my locker didn’t work properly. People often walked around in the middle of the night making a racket. The food was the worst part. The pizzas came frozen and we didn’t even get lunch that we paid for in advance and what we did get had little choice. For the veggie people on the trip it was incredibly hard to get food suitable as we had ask twice for it to come and we told them in advance it would be needed. When we tried to resolve these issues the service was terrible. The only good things were that the beds were fairly comfy. If you are planning a school trip don’t come here.

Hands down the worst experience we have ever had at a hostel. We stayed for 5 nights and although is cheap you get what you pay for. Rooms were so loud we’ve barely slept more than a few hours a night. Absolutely disgusting bathrooms, they are cleaned so poorly. There were peas in the sink for our entire stay. Piss always all over the toilet seats. The showers were a joke. The most disgusting thing was finding multiple toenail clippings in my bed.The staff was always rude and unhelpful. This place would have a lot of potential if it was actually cared for. We will never stay here again and will warn others of our experience as well.

Overall: Much more affordable than hotels in the area. My main problem was that the 3-person private room (108) has a shower that looks very nice, but isn't functional because there is no door. After every shower, there is water all over the floor (and no shower mat to soak anything up). The front desk wouldn't provide an extra towel to clean up, but they sent house-keeping. Thankfully kind gentleman from house-keeping left a mop for the remaining duration of our stay.

Overall, the stay there was very nice. I stayed in a room with 21 beds and the beds were spaced well and there was surprisingly a lot of room to move around. The beds were comfortable for a hostel, and it was over all clean. I’m seeing people complain about the bathrooms, but honestly the bathrooms were fine. The location is a bit tricky, especially at night when the park is closed. Getting there with luggage is also a bit of a trek, but that isn’t the fault of the hostel itself, just something to keep in mind when booking. Friendly staff. I felt safe and secure there
