I stayed at the Indian YMCA London for a considerable period, and while I was fortunate to make amazing friends and meet genuinely kind staff members especially the chefs, who were always warm and helpful, my overall experience was unfortunately affected by the management. There were several recurring issues during my stay: 1) Lack of Resident Consideration Many residents, including myself, often feel that our concerns are dismissed or not taken seriously. The attitude comes across as though management is doing us a favour by allowing us to stay, rather than providing a service we are paying for. 2)Wi-Fi Issues Although Wi-Fi is included in the rent, it rarely works properly. When we raise the issue casually to the management, we are told it that we should be happy that it is “complimentary,” even though it is a listed facility. This was frustrating, especially for people who rely on internet access for work or studies. 3)Treatment of Staff It is noticeable that even some staff members are not treated particularly well by management, which naturally raise concerns about how residents’ issues would be handled. 4)Heating in Winter During cold months, the radiators are switched off at night, the time when heating is needed most. As a solution we are told to wear extra layers while sleeping, which feels unreasonable given the weather and the fact that heating is part of basic accommodation needs. 5)Communication Issues There was a WhatsApp group created to address resident concerns, but it was deleted without warning, which made communication even more difficult. Overall, the community and the dining staff are the highlights of this accommodation. However, the management’s approach and handling of resident concerns significantly affects the living experience. I hope that these issues are addressed in the future so that the place can live up to its full potential.

I stayed here last minute as my train was cancelled; my wife had stayed several times before and recommended it. For the price and location, I was very pleased. The staff were friendly and the room itself was spacious and clean (though really warm! I had to turn down the central heating) and I appreciated dinner and breakfast being included. Speaking of which, I would happily eat medu vada for breakfast every day!

This review is for the restaurant: they serve simple, tasty Indian food in an informal setting. A great place to have authentic Indian food at a very reasonable price.

Great location, clean and friendly customer service! The room also comes with complimentary dinner and breakfast. It's one of my favourite places to stay in London and I made a dear friend from India on one of my visits. Can't recommend it enough!

The buffet: I had high hopes for the Indian YMCA buffet, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a truly disappointing experience. For £16, I expected at least a decent standard of food, but what I got felt more like an insult than a meal. The quality was shockingly low. The so-called fish stew consisted mostly of fish heads—no actual pieces of fish, just the heads floating in sauce. It was not only unappetising but also quite disturbing. The rest of the dishes were equally uninspiring, lacking both flavour and care. To make matters worse, there was no dessert on offer. Just a few sad apples on a tray—as if that somehow counts. For the price, the entire experience felt like a rip-off. This was not just a bad meal—it was an unpleasant and frustrating one. I left feeling disappointed, slightly sick, and completely disrespected as a customer. Once and never again.

This is my honest review just wanted to share my experience without being prejudice to anyone particular. I have been discriminate by one of the serving guy (presumably he is one of the chefs dressed white with white short beared). All the stuffs in YMCA are wonderful & friendly except this serving guy (presumably he is from South India). As this place advertised & charges for dinner BUFFET so I presume everyone can ask for food as much as you can. Anyway as per my experience goes I have noticed this guy have some attitude problem & he does not seems like people comes back for food second time that's strange! I love Indian food in the YMCA which is delicious & feels like home cooking however when ever I returned back for the second time especially I don't eat rice at the dinner so I ask for chapattis instead of rice & this guy always gives 2 chappatis first time then when I ask for another 2 for the second time he seems does not like that. I don't understand what is his problem? In my last visit in the month of September I have noticed he has been talking & laughing with his colleagues about me because I ask for extra chappatis. Also in a previous occasions I have seen he gave me 2 chapattis from 2 different container presumably first one was freshly made & the second one from the morning as per the taste was two different. I don't know if anyone of you have noticed this as I am thinking of making a complain to the YMCA senior management about this guy. What is really bother me that I don't understand south Indian language so I don't understand what he is talking about regarding me behind my back but as per expression of his face & attitude I can feel uncomfortable & I am sure something is wrong with this guy. I have seen this guy always there in the evening & he is the main person serves everyone food at the counter . Please share your experience if you gone through similar experience like mine

The room was a bit cluttered with oversized furniture. Dinner was simple and tasty but you had to be early or they may run out on some items. Breakfast needs to improve at least for transit guests.

I just want to say that YMCA is one of the most authentic Indian restaurant in London. It's also extremely value for money. The portions are also decent. Furthermore the staff is also friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cheap and an authentic India meal.
