This is the best vets I have been to! We moved a couple of years ago from Haworth and my french bulldog has never been in better hands. He is very excitable when visiting the vets so can be loud on entering and he is a rescue and dog reactive. The staff at Denby Dale are so accommodating and go above and beyond to make Pablo feel safe, happy and well, as well as not looking down on us if we cannot avoid other dogs. He receives the best care and we have found easy risk free solutions to problems with Pablo that other vets wanted to put on top medication injections for. I cannot thank the team enough for all they do! He just turned 5 - so added a pic of his cheeky face to say thanks to the team!

Very good communication between vets and owners after surgery. I appreciated the call a day after to ask how my cat was after her teeth extraction . Really friendly staff & receptionists both at denby dale & pennistone .

The vet that as just seen my dog Alfie was fantastic she cares and was so informative and understanding I would definitely recommend calder vets at Denby Dale. No waiting, appointment on time and receptionist was polite and friendly. Overall I felt confident with the service and my dog was in good hands. Unfortunately I had to have Alfie put to sleep I cannot thank the vet and staff enough for all the care and support given to us. I now go to the same vet with my dog Peggy who Unfortunately became a diabetic and again I cannot say enough about the vet and staff that have been fantastic in all her care needs I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Fantastic, friendly and caring team at Denby Dale and feel the same about their Penistone practice on the occasions we've had to visit there. Always met with a friendly face and they have always provided a calm and welcoming environment for my past and present furbabies. Great team.

Always feel so welcome at this Vets. All the staff are super friendly, compassionate and helpful. Micky (or Nicky?) is always super helpful and friendly on the phone and when you go in, as is Steph. All the vets I see also always very loving towards my cats. I know cats can be sassy little things but mine are such cuddle bears that the vets always pinch a cuddle and say how friendly they are. Always manage to get the right diagnosis and gets them better. Could recommend them enough. Thanks as always :)

We headed to Calder Vets in Denby Dale for our first visit today with our Sphynx kitten Kiki. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming, so far, so good. The vet (Anna) mentioned straight away that she had little experience with Sphynx's before. Throughout the examination, she seemed really standoffish with both us and Kiki. Most vets are big animal people and want to interact with them so found this a little unusual. From all previous visits to vets over the years, the norm would be to be asked to comfort your pet whilst they're treated to keep them calm. Without announcing it, she attempted Kiki's vaccination and then seemed frustrated that Kiki wriggled. She was then surprised when Kiki bled. Being unfamiliar with the breed, she then mentioned the wax build up in Kiki's ears and suggested it was ear mite. When I tried to explain that Sphynx's get this buildup naturally because of the lack of hair in their ears to wick wax away and out, she spoke over me and shot that down straight away. I mentioned that this was a Sphynx thing and I have to bathe Kiki weekly, she said that it definitely wasn't because one of her nurse's breeds Sphynx's. All of this despite mentioning her lack of experience with the breed. Before getting our kitten, we extensively researched the breed and one thing we discovered during this research is that vets often misdiagnose Sphynx's with ear mite. She seemed like a very knowledgeable and experienced vet but lacked professionalism or people skills on our visit. Overall we were left with a bad taste in our mouths and won't be returning. In my profession, I've found that there's always room to learn new things. Particularly areas I lack experience in.

The staff at Denby Dale are always been brilliant with our pets. Always caring, compassionate and friendly. Nicky is so helpful. Dewsbury and Penistone have also been very good. The nurses are also super friendly and kind. Thank you.

Just needed to warn people that even though you are told everything is good at your regular check-up, in the background the computer may be registering that your pet has been steadily losing weight over a long period. Please ask for print outs so you can check yourself. Move on months later and the steady weight loss could now be down to a mass which is large, the mass could and probably is what was causing the weight loss. I asked them to check into why he was losing weight after noticing that he was lucking a bit skinny on his back end. They tested him for Thyroid problems, results came back okay, then another vet noticed a mass the size of an orange, not small then. Today the vet noticed that he was still losing weight and her actual words were...'can't you feed him more' are you serious...if it wasn't for my concerns he'd be still being told he was fine. I have a copy of the print-out which clearly shows there was a problem months ago. Be careful, or go somewhere else. P.S our cat eats very well thank you. If it wasn't for his obvious issues now, he'd be the size of a dog with the amount he eats. He is clearly ill. And if noticed earlier by a Vet, we might have been able to manage it sooner. Apparently some Vets are just better at feeling for masses than others, there words not mine. Push for answers if you feel something is wrong. You know your pet better than anyone.
