Stayed one night whilst in the area for work and was very comfortable and well attended to by Roger and Maureen. Location is walking distance to a number of pubs, restaurants and attractions. The room was clean and well equipped and breakfast was very good. Only a flying visit but a nice one!

Very attentive owner who welcomed us without being over the top and fussy. Rooms were immaculately clean. The location is only a short and easy wander into the town. Great breakfast too!!!

I stayed here with my dog for a night to rest while exploring the peak district for a couple of days. The place was very clean, the hosts were very welcoming and accommodating, and not to mention how amazing the breakfast was. This is somewhere I will definitely be revisiting!!

my partner and I stayed an evening and felt very at home and welcome, great hosts, with a lovely breakfast. Very clean too. Would stay again. We stayed there with our dog. Thoroughly would recommend anyone to stay there. We had a lovely time.

We had a mixed stay here at The Cables - a beautiful property from the outside and nice enough on the inside. On arrival the host Roger was a little short with us. We were reminded to turn off lights, told to remove our shoes and told to β€˜be mindful that night worker was sleeping in the day’. We were changing our little boy on the bed of the room and he was crying - when Roger ran upstairs and slammed our door as apparently we were being too loud. It was early afternoon. Surely it would make sense for a night worker not to be sleeping at the property that had visitors coming and going throughout the day.. We felt like we were bunking for free at a relatives house - not paying guests at a supposed 4 star hotel! It all felt a little uncomfortable and was not the warmest welcome. He did know in advance we were a family - but it was certainly not a family friendly venue. The room itself was tiny for a family of four and felt very claustrophobic. However it was well equipped with tv, tea coffee etc and well heated. In the morning we came down for breakfast, and the odd behaviour continued. We felt a little unwelcome which was very different to what we had read on all the reviews. Perhaps it was as we had young children with us. Breakfast was included in the price - and delicious - although when went to pay, Roger questioned how much he had quoted on the phone and the price was now higher. I explained it was a little awkward and I guess I would pay the price he wanted - but he got annoyed and charged the price I heard on the phone. The room was dirty underneath the furniture - as read in previews reviews - so I guess the owner doesn’t take feedback well. Maybe I had misheard or misunderstood, and maybe we had caught Roger at a bad time? But there is no excuse for rudeness.

From the moment you arrive Roger& Maureen make you feel special. The warm reception followed by tea & cake on the house are just a few examples. They are the hosts with the most. Lovely comfy bed, delicious breakfast and even max the dog gives you a warm welcome. Hot tub and garden are lush they even housed our bikes in the garage. Robes and slippers lovely touch after biking in 38 miles...what more do you need. Nothing, thank you so much for looking after us your both a delight. Jen & Rhona

Wonderful place to stay to relax and unwind. The hosts are very attentive and welcoming, without being overbearing. The premises are clean and comfortable with all the home comforts you could wish for. There's a great choice of breakfasts, very fresh and tasty. Id highly recommend trying the fresh home made pizza. I would definitely stay again.
