We booked 2 rooms for a stay on 28 December 2025 for 1 night and booked breakfasts for myself my friend and his daughter about 6 months prior to our visit. We were going to the venue next door to watch a band called Bad Manners as a present to my friends daughter. Unfortunately the band cancelled the gig early on the 27 December due to a member falling ill. Upon finding this out, I immediately emailed the hotel and the website booking.com to cancel my rooms as we now no longer needed them. I understand that its short notice, but you didn't even reply back until the 28th when you and booking.com said I would have to pay in full as there was a no cancellation policy. I emailed again and added that we wouldn't be staying, we wouldn't be eating breakfast that we paid for, we wouldn't need the rooms cleaning as no one would be using them, and the bedding wouldn't need to be changed or washed. You just emailed back very late in the day saying you were taking the full money. I feel a bit cheated here and wouldn't have expected a full refund, but a partial refund as we weren't having breakfasts or using the rooms. It's a very poor service and I would definitely not recommend your hotel or The Coaching Inn Groups hotels to anyone. It wasn't a cheap booking, it was not our fault the gig was cancelled at such short notice. We didn't eat our paid for breakfast We didn't need the rooms cleaning or bed linen changing as they were not used. Maybe you will reply to this post a bit quicker than you did the emails.

Booked this place for a working trip 3 weeks plus in advance. I received an email asking me to call the establishment 4 days before my due arrival. I was told the room was cancelled due to βhotel refurbishmentβ. Funny just 2 days before I received an email suggesting I could take my dog for a fee if I wanted to! Frankly they just wanted to cancel for what ever reason so placing me in a very poor position. Anyway I found another establishment with far better reviews a few miles awayβ¦ the Huntsman Inn. Iβm sure these people will be far more accommodating and professional unlike this shower of incompetence. Frankly Iβm disgusted to be treated this way after making a booking which was accepted in writing. Be careful when booking as even with a booking conformation they could simply change there mind and drop you

Great pub, have been in many times for food or a drink. Always good service and centrally located to everything else. Thanks to Jordan for great service

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and very nice food. Unfortunately thatβs as good as it gets. The service is very slow, The table tops are sticky. The rooms are worn out and not cleaned properly. (Previous guests discarded rubbish in drawers etc) The beds are absolutely knackered. Massive dips in the mattresses making it uncomfortable and difficult to sleep.

Food and service is excellent. The disabled toilet is located by the main bar, so if you are dining in the restaurant you need to go outside the building and back in. Alternatively eat in the bar! There is one disabled parking space, but it is hard to get to its better to park in the car park by the bus station and wheel over the river.

Quick overnight stay as going to a function and didnβt want to drive home. We stayed in Room 27 with the balcony over the front and absolutely loved it. Night staff were brilliant when we came back like naughty school kids late. Breakfast was amazing and the hotel went over and above re my lactose intolerance and gluten free diet. We will certainly stay again and will request this room, there isnβt anything we could fault. We will certainly be back.

Absolutely loved the place. Excellent value, facilities, rooms, food and staff excellent. Could do with very slight improvement on room cleanliness but would most definitely stay here again and recommend it. Lovely atmosphere and decor, staff extremely friendly and attentive, restaurant food was gorgeous, no need to eat anywhere else !! Large bar with massive choice of drinks. Location couldn't be better.

We didn't use the hotel facilities, just the restaurant. The food was absolutely lovely. We all had a main and a starter and a non alcoholic drink. It was approx Β£25 per head. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were warm and friendly. We sat relaxing until The South gig was about to start next door (we were avoiding the football game). Will definitely return to try more of the menu.

Stopped for a drink, served straight away- however quality of beer not great and so overpriced. You can get a pint across the road in a even better atmosphere for Β£2 less. Β£6 a pint - too overpriced. Was going to have dinner - they have priced themselves out this occasion. Tables dirty and sticky - yes they wiped - chairs damp also - but you can tell with the absence of customers on a Friday night - not great!
