I used to go here around 39 years ago, when Andrew was little boy about 3 years old, and we lived in the flats at Badgers Bank Road. I recall a pair of Great Created Grebes would frequent the lake, possibly resident for a while. I wonder if they're any nowadays? I live far from here now.
Natural landscape full of wildlife, with bird spotting information, boardwalks and small bridges over wetlands, set right in the middle of a suburban area. Historic mill pond, with the remnants of the mill wheel and race, dating back almost 300 years, all cared for by a volunteering workforce. A pair of swans live here and have five our six signets each year. You can watch them grow over the months from fluffy little grey things into the majestic beasts they are. A haven of nature and natural beauty.
Lovely trail and also some lovely ducks to see and interact with! Only a small trail so ideal for a small walk and in a nice, quiet area also. Only down side to the trail is that only the beginning of the walk would be suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs as before long you go on more rocky/dirty nature trails and it becomes inaccessible unless walking.
Amazing place to have a leisurely walk, I was able to write some lyrics for my songs while sitting near the pond. Definitely recommended for people who like walking alone while listening to music.
Small but very nice reserve with some interesting species.
Beautiful little nature reserve, hidden away within a housing estate. Plenty of wildlife and snowdrops starting to come up. I went today as there was an event on to help build Bird Boxes for the reserve, definitely worth a visit.
Great wee place for a wander with the kids. Feed the ducks, splash down the stream and hunt for bird boxes!
I have found this little place on my way home from work! My dogs have thoroughly enjoyed it there! I was lucky my Springer didn't jump in the duck pond! Beautiful sea of bluebells! Who knew they had such a lovely smell! Would love it more if it were a bit bigger!
Lovely little nature reserve. The odd piece of dog mess here and there. 5 stars if dog owners cleaned up afterwards...
