We determined to refurbish our kitchen and invited a number firms, local, regional and national to quote. Several responded including R.S.Heating and Building Co. (RSH). Whilst RSH were not the cheapest quote we decided to offer them the contract, taking into account we had been customers for almost 40 years and where possible we utilise local firms. The guarantee provided by RSH has expired and it is now time to reflect and review the process. Just over a week before they were due on site to commence work RSH contacted us to inform us that they had made a mistake in their costing and that they would have to increase the price by nearly 25%. Whilst we were discussing our options and bearing in mind that all the units, tiles and materials were due to be delivered within days. RSH contacted us to offer a discount on the new price of 4.4%. In the circumstances we decided, reluctantly, to accept their revised price. Work commenced as scheduled and the tiler became most upset when reminded that the floor tiles were to be laid over the entire floor, he had assumed that they would be laid just under the cabinets. He opted not to lay the last row of tiles under the cabinets and wood was used to infill the gap for the dishwasher cabinet and washing machine. Then, as he was laying the very last row of tiles he placed a full, unopened box of tiles on its short and thin end, and contrived to knock it over and, surprisingly, there were no unopened boxes of tiles for return and refund and no whole single tiles left. All previous tiling had resulted in spare tiles being left “just in case of need” and unopened box(es) refunded. Mystery surrounds the disappearance of the cavity wall insulation blocks beneath both window cills. The plasterer declared that he could not plaster two of the walls specified and suggested I buy some Polyfilla and do it myself. The expected reduction in cost did not materialize. Mr Unwin visited several times, bearing amended invoices, all increases in value, in respect of electrical work. One amended invoice was, strangely, sent by e-mail dated on the first day of work and included an increase of £822 for “applying self levelling compound to the floor” A later invoice included £298 for tiling materials. When reminded that the specification included “supplying and laying the correct foundation pad” he responded by saying he should have deleted that line. When we queried the charge for the tiling materials, as we could buy the exact same tiling materials significantly cheaper, he did reduce the price. He was most insistent that we should pay for the floor levelling and would not leave our home, finally he offered a reduction in the charge but would not cancel it despite it being included in the quotation.

I needed to move my boiler from a communal stairwell to inside my flat. I decided to have a new boiler at the same time. I phoned R.S Heating as I’d used them before and was very happy with the work done and customer service. Again the work was complete to a high standard. The fitters were knowledgeable and gave good advice on where to place the pipe work. They also did some other plumbing jobs I needed doing at the same time. And the customer service from Roger was excellent as before.

Just had an en suite installed by Roger and the team after they undertook a similar job at my last house. Excellent service end to end and we love the result. The team were all polite and friendly, Roger had it impeccably organized and everything went without a hitch. Couldn’t recommend them enough and will 100% be coming back for any future needs.

RS Heating and Building did a complete new bathroom for us in February and also fitted a new Worcester boiler last year. On both jobs, the quality of the work was excellent. All the team are helpful, friendly and highly skilled. Communication is good. Everyone that worked with us on both jobs went to a lot of trouble and were really committed to solving any problems that arose. The bathroom refit had some challenges - a fairly complex tiling job, fitting a smart toilet, some supply issues - and all got dealt with successfully. The finished bathroom is fabulous and the tiling looks wonderful. I could not be happier with the work. Highly recommended.

Big thanks to Roger and his team. Totally professional from the first phone call to the very clear estimate and on to the very neat installation of our new shower room. Working in a very old house with a "unique" plumbing system proved challenging but they overcame and provided an outstanding service. Highly recommended.

I had two bathrooms completely renovated by Roger and his team. 1. Most importantly, Roger and his fitters and tilers are 'normal', good people. They are friendly, funny, completely trustworthy, and treated us respectfully all the time. 2. They are probably also the best craftsmen in the area in their individual trades. I chose some extremely large tiles for one bathroom, and I know it was hard work, but boy, did they do a grand, perfect job! My bathroom makes me feel like I'm in a 5-star hotel. (the rest of the house is not even 2 star!). 3. They were also very responsive, I had many last-minute change of mind, and nothing was too much trouble for them. I'd wholeheartedly recommend them, and of course use them again when I need work done, without thinking twice! Best wishes to the entire team!

The men were excellent workers - pleasant and reliable. Roger, the boss, called in several times to make sure everything was going well. We would highly recommend this company. They are very professional and a pleasure to have in our house.
