Excellent service from Medivet Newton le Willows. Got an appointment at very short notice. Vet checked the dogs anal glands and prescribed antibiotics. Very happy with the appointment and the care shown to our dog.

I can’t fault Medivet Newton. We’ve been bringing our cat here for over 4 years now for his yearly check up and vaccinations and the experience is always very smooth and painless. Unfortunately our cat can’t stand being in his carrier and makes quite the racket, despite this both the Vet and reception staff have always approached the situation in a sympathetic, caring and professional manner. On our most recent our cat was so distressed he urinated in his carrier on the journey over. The Vet who I saw that day could not have been more kind, helping me clean him up and giving me 2 free “puppy pads” for the journey home. The annual check up is a dreaded task in our house, but the excellent staff at Medivet Newton always ensure the process is about as painless as you could hope for!

We had to change vets unfortunately, but prior to that, Claire did a fantastic job of looking after our Logan and also Poppy.

Interested more in upselling than animal care. I took my very poorly dog to them twice in a week because she was clearly off (incredibly hot belly to the touch, a weird smell) and the vet insisted she was okay. The vet then produced a comb and ran it through her fur and excitedly told me she had fleas (she's treated with Frontline) and emotionally blackmailed me into buying flea stuff for the house. I spent hundreds of pounds in consultation fees and meds that week. I took my girl to another vet the next day, and they immediately diagnosed pyometra and operated on her the next day, saving her life. She would have DIED under the care of Newton Vets. They also refused to give me a prescription so I could source cheaper meds online due to their exorbitant costs, unless I brought her in for a spurious check up and paid £25 for them to write it out. The law is that they can charge a "modest" fee to write out a prescription. Utterly awful practice, and I wouldn't trust them with a mouse.

Been with this vet for over five years. Recently I attended their tiny surgery for one reason - to have my dog expressed. This was a return visit. I had been in the week before, however they were only able to do half a job. When I arrived they started weighing him, and began prepping his vaccinations. I told them very clearly this wasn't why I was there. She seemed bewildered. After paying over £150 I questioned the charges. I was basically told this was a reasonable price. £50 for 20 seconds on the second visit. It doesn't matter how "professional" you say you are, nobody is worth over £9000 per hour.
