This is our second trip to Africa using ATR And safari. This time to South Africa and Mauritius. We stayed in four different locations and took their recommendations For hotels and Camps in each. Happy to say one was better than the next!!! From Cape Town to the wine country to a Safari, and then to Mauritius, each location felt like its own vacation. Staying at Rattray’s in Mala mala was just over the top fabulous. Same with Mauritius at the Shangrila. All of our transitions from place to place and our flights (there were 10 of them!) went off without a hitch. We would totally recommend them and plan to use them again in the future for Namibia and Kenya. Thanks Jay and Jade at ATR!! Lorraine and Terese.
We just returned from a week safari in South Africa organized by ATR and have nothing but positive reviews! This was our first safari and the ATR team was invaluable in the planning as we reviewed multiple itineraries and made numerous adjustments until we landed on the right combination of stays. The end result was exactly what we envisioned and every detail was covered. We could not have asked for a better experience and while everything went flawlessly, it was great comfort knowing the ATR team was only a call away should anything arise.
ATR provided a fabulous experience for my families trip to South Africa. What was most impressive was their ability to find upscale accomodations for 10 people which can be a challenge. Every facility we stayed at provided 5 Star dining experiences and always had tables ready for all 10 of my family members. The hotels were beyond my expectations. Especially Camissa House which provided service that I have NEVER had before. The people were so friendly and willing to help in whatever way they could. ATR were experts in finding the exact right places to go and told us how much time should be spent in each locale. I have already recommended ATR to my other friends who travel quite a bit.
We have just returned from a week’s safari in Tanzania followed by a week on the beach in Zanzibar, all organised by ATR. Our experience couldn’t have been better! Whilst expectations were high, they were greatly exceeded. Our sincere thanks to Clare for putting together such a superb itinerary, and to Gemma for her incredible support. They are a great team, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They were always quick to respond, and their advice always proved to be spot-on. For the safari we were brilliantly guided in Tarangire and Serengeti – both of which were stunning, delivering on a wide range of close encounters with everything you might hope! Ormatai Rock Safari Camp and Alex Walker’s Serian Serengeti Lamai were both top class, the latter being particularly special. Everything was carefully and seamlessly co-ordinated by ATR throughout the week, including the internal flights. The following week relaxing in Zanzibar was a great way to unwind after all the excitement of the safari. Pongwe Beach Resort was excellent, with golden sands, clear blue waters, and a calm and friendly vibe. The whole trip proved to be the holiday of a lifetime. We would have no hesitation in recommending ATR.
We've traveled to Africa from the USA four times now with ATR, the most recent being in June 2022. Richard Wende handled our trip this time, and he provided tremendous first-hand information, feedback and patience as we developed our Botswana/Zambia safari (we actually met him at one of the safari camps during our 2017 trip)! This was the second time we booked an epic African vacation with ATR. Once again, Tracey went above and beyond our expectations to create a trip of a lifetime. The communication was flawless right from the planning stages. ATR are experts in their field and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with this large of a undertaking traveling from Canada to tour Uganda. What I appreciate most about ATR is the fact that they take the time to get t know you and design a trip based on your wishes and budget. There are no cookie cutter itineraries with ATR and you are not just booking a generic safari from a tour company for the masses. ATR service is simply like no other, they will work with you every step along the way so you have a personalized itinerary using ATR’s entrusted local guides and boutique lodges that are simply exquisite. Most importantly, ATR does all of this this while staying as eco friendly as possible by supporting local businesses that are sustainable and also give back to their villages and communities. After arriving to Uganda, everything Tracey had arranged went flawlessly. From our drivers, to 5 internal flights and of course the quaint but luxurious accommodation, the real stars were the wildlife. Tracey had arranged every detail of permits, guides and trekking. We didn’t have to worry about a thing except enjoying the beauty of Uganda and it’s wildlife stars. If you are looking for a personalized trip of a lifetime, don’t book anywhere other than with ATR!
My wife and I used African Travel Resource to arrange our holiday to Zimbabwe. From the start Jay at ATR took the time to get to know us and our likes and dislikes when it came to our safari. He asked us about our previous trips to Africa and where we had stayed. From this he was able to put together a bespoke trip. Once an outline was put together, he was quite happy to tweak it for length of stays and camps used to give us a very varied experience. This is the beauty of having something tailor made as you get what you want from all the plethora of choices of camps and itineraries. We used Hwange Bush Camp and Somalisa Expeditions Camp, in Hwange National Park, followed by Kanga Camp and then finally Vundu Camp in Mana Pools. The combination was great giving us a mix of authentic bush camps and the more, softer luxury camps. Our experience was exceptional and the dovetailing of bush flights between camps worked extremely well. Because of Covid our trip was postponed twice from our initial chosen dates. This proved a headache, not so much for us but for Jay at ATR who had to re-schedule everything twice. To their credit the prices were held for two years. We are currently in the process of organising another trip, this time to Zambia with ATR. Again, having spoken with Jay I feel confident that I will get the best experience and value based around me and my requirements and budget. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to any safari lover to use their services and to check out their excellent website for detailed information on locations, lodges and safari suggestions. Book with confidence you certainly won't be disappointed! You will definitely have some memorable close up wildlife encounters!!! (See Pics)
I highly recommend ATR. Somehow, Tracey put together a terrific overland safari in Tanzania that was tailored to my family's interests and desires on very short notice. It couldn't have gone more smoothly. The accommodations were spectacular and perfectly comfortable. Our driver was also terrific. We were so impressed with the depth of his knowledge and skillful navigation. When we first contacted ATR we said that we wanted to make memories, and they absolutely delivered!
We have just returned from the trip of a lifetime. We went to Zanzibar and Tanzania mainland. We had booked with ATR in 2018 for 2020, but Covid got in the way. I was worried the holiday wouldn't live up to our excited expectations, but it did. ATR listened to what we wanted and they completely delivered. They were professional and organised and although I spoke to different people at the company over the four-year period, Lenny took over as the dates approached and was excellent at replying quickly to my emails and making sure all the elements of the holiday would go smoothly. We stayed at Lake Manze Tented Camp and Mdonya River Camp for the safari element, both were excellent, I can highly recommend them if you are looking for an authentic safari experience and we stayed at the beautiful and peaceful Sharazad Boutique Hotel in Zanzibar at the end - we needed some rest and recuperation before returning to the UK. Thanks to Lenny and the team for a truly unforgettable experience. I have been recommending ATR to everyone!
