He’s only gone and done it again. Gordon Jones remains an absolute culinary wizard, the King Midas of flavour combinations. Every plate that arrives is a visual wow and a joyful punch of taste, turning dinner into something closer to an art exhibition than a conventional meal. With the chef often plating dishes himself and chatting easily with diners, the whole experience feels personal, playful and wonderfully unpretentious. The surprise menu keeps anticipation high from start to finish. This visit was for lunch, and the atmosphere proved just as strong as during evening service: relaxed, upbeat and bursting with personality. The playlist deserves a special mention, it's fun, nostalgic and perfectly judged. Hearing Teenage Kicks by The Undertones transported me straight back to my youth, adding a cheeky, nostalgic twist that matched the restaurant’s free-spirited vibe beautifully. Every course delivered its own “wow” moment: inventive, playful and superbly balanced. The wine pairings were spot on, and for teetotallers, the non-alcoholic cocktails were just as thoughtful and impressive. Unexpected flavour combinations had me wide eyed in appreciation throughout always surprising. Service is slick yet genuinely warm, with none of the stuffy formality you might expect from food of this calibre. The energy is bright, the welcome sincere, and the door magically opens on arrival! Gordon Jones himself is an absolute delight to interact with. Booking a table here isn’t just about having a meal, it’s signing up for a memorable taste adventure. You’ll leave sated, buzzing and happy, like your tastebuds have just been to a rave. Every course earns its own wow, and the soundtracks ties it all together for an unforgettable foodie experience.

OMG. The best meal and the best experience ever for an amazing meal. The chef, Gordon Jones, is open, fun and super talented. The courses are ever changing and a surprise when you show up. Only after the meal is complete so you get a copy of the menu. It’s expensive but worth it.

My birthday tonight and had a very special meal with my wife. The food is simply magical and it always surprises! I'm not sure why Gordon doesn't have a Michelin star. The music whilst eating enhanced my evening as it's the stuff I listen to. A joy, a pleasure and a real talented chef. We shall be back! Special.

We went here as a birthday treat. The set menu is a surprise 6 course taster menu and every dish was interesting delicious and wonderfully presented. I had the wine flight and my partner had the non alcoholic flight the pairing with the food worked really well. The taster menu changes all the time depending on what is in season what is available or what the chef’s are inspired to cook. It’s quite a small place about 20 covers and when we went at lunchtime . The pace of the dishes and the explanation of the food, especially the wine was great. Thanks for a lovely memorable experience.

I had a surprise treat for my Birthday. I wanted to go here for a very long time. It was amazing. From the minute we arrived it was a treat. We did the 9 course taster menu with wine flight. ( lunch time) The venue is quirky, the chefs knowledgeable and Amelia friendly and really helped us understand the wines. Highly recommend. This is a must xx

Incredible experience throughout! Amelia is a really lovely host from answering my email to welcoming me at the restaurant itself. Chef Gordon is just such a character with all his funny stories and comments. Most importantly the food were excellent! My favourite dishes were the Rabbit & Beans and...the Bag of Bread (sourdough with bloody Mary butter & artichoke syrup and fish roe butter (?)) I took the non-alcoholic flight which was absolutely delicious and went well with the dishes. I left the restaurant a very happy customer. I will definitely return if I ever visit Bath again!

Hands down the best dining experience of my 40 year life and has ruined any future dining experiences! The atmosphere is epic! The little touches of the decor and the informal yet professional and friendly service is the best I have ever had! Where else will the chef owner open the door for you, bring your food and take the time for small talk! INCREDIBLE!

One of Bath’s best restaurants. Very surprised to see it not have a Michelin star as it’s certainly at that standard with the food and service. Some of the dishes were very inventive and not your usual “modern French cuisine”, which made it refreshing. It was also a nice touch to have the chef come out to deliver some of the dishes and talk about them. Certainly made the whole experience more personal.
