The best Thai food in the Scottish Borders. Great choices, excellently cooked. Always feels healthy and portion sizes are just right. The delivery service is good as well. The banana fritters are amazing.
Went to Rak Thai in Melrose tonight. My wife and I had a sit in meal. Restaurant is small, food was fantastic, service good and amazing value. My wife is Thai and we have tried many Thai restaurants, Rak Thai is up with the best. Wish it was closer to my home. I had prawn gaeng daeng, my wife had haw mok, both with steamed rice and a somtam to share.
We had a delicious Thai dinner for three yesterday. Best I’ve tasted outside Thailand. Also very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended, but be aware that it’s not really a restaurant though they have tables and high stools to sit at.
Quite simply the best meal I have ever had! Takeaway food (well, except we sat in at one of the cosy tables for two) at restaurant standard but so much more than that. I was doing my best Somebody Feed Phil impression with every single mouthful. It was absolutely delicious and at an absolutely bargain price too. Pak Choop (tempura veg) as starter to share - a (delicious) and massive meal on it's own! Followed up with Pad See Eww with veg for me (noodle heaven) and Gaeng Saparot red curry with chicken for my wife - the sauce was was amazing, I ate much of it as a soup, just to help her you know. We received a very warm and friendly welcome from the host, and was great to hear him giving recommendations to others coming and going too. The Rak Thai goes straight to the top of my must come back to list without doubt.
Very interesting!! I am very much non-experimental when it comes to my food however I thought I would give Thai food a try. There are a lot of contrasting flavours which was exhilarating- flavours I would never think to eat together. I definitely recommend trying Thai food as it's a great experience especially if you're looking for something new and different to excite your taste buds! Friendly service too :)
Absolutely fantastic food. We were in Scotland visiting some friends and thought we’d give this place a try. We were not disappointed. Really lovely fresh and flavoursome food. Would highly recommend! This was also my first experience of Thai takeaway, so so good! :)
First meal from this wonderful place. We are staying at the caravan site in the town and fancied a treat meal. This didn't dissapoint. The tempura prawns and the spring rolls were delicious and fresh. The egg fried rice so so freshly made (which is a huge plus for me). Red Thai curry also fabulous. The huge plus also was all the packaging is biodegradable and compostable. Well done on doing your bit! When I'm back in Melrose next time (which is frequently) I'll be having a wee treat from your wonderful takeaway. Update: January 2022 Back in Melrose again and just had the most delicious meal delivered to the site I'm staying at. Meal was on time, hot and the man delivering was very polite. April 16th 2022 Again as ALWAYS this evening the meal was delicious. We always call at opening for a time to collect in that evening. Customer service is ALWAYS fabulous. Food fresh and hot. We always get a treat from here when staying in the motorhome in the town.
Although I know the Thai owner/chef from her other food outlet, this was our first takeaway from the Rak Thai in Melrose, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the 'Banquet for two' and it was, without question, the best takeaway Thai food we have eaten since leaving Thailand almost 3 years ago. For starters, we ordered both the crispy chicken spring rolls with sour plum dip and the chicken satay. For mains, we had a deliciously creamy Massaman (beef) and the spicy Pad Grarpao (prawn). It all came with a generous portion of egg fried rice. There were generous portions of everything, and there was plenty of leftover mains for us to warm up for lunch next day. An added bonus (and an important consideration for me) is that the food came packaged in biodegradable containers and was ready for collection in a paper carrier bag. Definitely FIVE STARS from us!
