Came across a flyer for this take away in a city centre restaurant, and decided to try it with my partner on a Sunday evening. We ordered online for a "pick up", and the timing indicator of when it will be ready seemed pretty accurate. Together, we tried their vegetable tempura and katsu tofu bao bun. I had a veggie platter on top, and my partner had beef stir fried noodles (beef tenderloin yakisoba). The tempura was well made, but the batter didn't feel very authentic. Interestingly, the accompanying sauce wasn't tentsuyu. My partner described the taste of the bao bun akin to cardboard. I did not share the same thought, though I did feel like I was holding onto a McD-like Japanese tofu burger. The portion sizes we got in the veggie platter felt potentially very Westernised. They were the largest pieces of sushi I've seen in a very very long time. Some of the ingredients, such as the seaweed on the gunkans, didn't taste fresh and looked dry. Many were okay taste-wise, comparable to those that you'd get at an average all-you-can-eat buffet. Take care with the clear covers they use for some of their packaging, they can be rather brittle easily creating sharp edges. Friendly service. At time of writing, I was able to take advantage of an offer or a free drink for customers to leave reviews on social media.

I had an extraordinary experience at Belter Bento in Glasgow. The freshness and quality of the ingredients in their dishes were truly outstanding. Each bite transported me to Japan with its authentic flavors and textures. It's a haven for those seeking top-notch bento boxes that showcase the true essence of Japanese cuisine.

I ordered rainbow uramaki, katsu chicken bao buns and beef ramen. Food was ok but there is definitely room for improvement. Fish on the uramaki could have been fresher and the rolls could have been assembled better. The katsu chicken was cooked well but lacked flavour. The beef in the ramen was tough and the ramen broth lacked flavour. Good potential but for the price I would have expected better. Friendly staff.

I've been eating Japanese food for over a decade after falling in love with the food, culture and country itself and doing Japanese language, food and cultural studies. Glasgow needed a super authentic Japanese restaurant and it's finally here! Take it from someone who has eaten Ramen and Sushi at some of the best places the UK has to offer, as authentic as you can get. Belter Bento is 100% authentic, delicious and all around incredible. The ramen is the best Ramen I've had in the UK and the Katsu is very authentic too. The Sushi and Tempura dishes are delicious and authentic. The service is absolutely wonderful too. 10/10 without any flaws whatsoever. This will now be my go to every time I'm craving a little nostalgia from Japan. (P.S I would have taken photos but it was literally SO good I forgot! I will next time though!) Thank you Belter Bento! - Jade
