This place continues to be the best fine dining experience around. The menu is compact and exquisite and everything is cooked to perfection. The wine list is very comprehensive and advice is offered on pairing with the menu. All in all the best place to eat in Thornbury.

Staff were fantastic, the restaurant itself is beautiful. We sampled the new burger menu. I had the cheese and bacon and my wife had the beef burger. The relish was amazing, lots of flavour. We did feel something was missing though. The Spanish dirty fries looked amazing when they arrived at the table but they didn’t really have much taste. Everything tasted a little bland. We would love to come back and try the steak though as Thornbury needs a decent steak house.

Tucked away in Thornbury, Ronnie’s isn’t just a neighbourhood favourite—it’s a destination in its own right. From the moment our family stepped through the door, Richard’s relaxed but razor‑sharp front‑of‑house stewardship set the tone: warm smiles, quick wit, and the effortless sense that everything will run like clockwork. We opted for the Trust Menu for our family gathering of 9 —a “blind” tasting menu where Chef Ronnie takes the wheel and diners simply sit back for the ride. Course after course arrived like well‑timed plot twists. Each plate carried Ronnie’s signature—precise technique, local sourcing, and just enough playful flair to keep you guessing. Verdict: Ronnie’s is a bona‑fide local star and, frankly, worth the journey even if you’re not local. Whether you’re marking a special occasion with the family or just want to hand the culinary reins to a chef who clearly loves what he does, book the Trust Menu, sit back, and trust. You’ll leave planning your next visit before you’ve even walked out the door. Highly recommended.

Let's start the review with the last line. A hidden gem, that more people need to know about, the Michelin guide is missing an amazing restaurant here. Incredible food, wines that are unique and professional and friendly service from the small team, make this a complete joy. If you have not been, please give it a try, the express menu at £25 for three courses we can guarantee will be the best £25 you have ever spent. Next time go for the a la carte, as we did, and like us I am sure you will be back. From the moment you enter this quaint grade II listed building, the journey begins, with a warm welcome from the front-of-house manager. We opted for the a la carte menu and had the Grilled Pork Belly for the starter, BBQ Lamb loin and lamb neck tagine for the main, followed by the chocolate fondant for dessert. The Grilled Pork belly for the starter, presented as a lollipop was melt-in-the-mouth flavours and the food was taken to the next level with the glaze, peanuts and salad. Then onto the main and the Lamb, and this was a tale of two halves from the beautifully cooked Lamb loin to the intense lamb neck this was a pure treat for the taste buds. The best lamb we have ever tasted. Then finally the dessert, a light chocolate fondant enhanced with cherries was a lovely way to end the meal. This was not a rich dish, it was perfectly balanced by the cherries and the three ways they were presented. The menu offers several options from the amazingly priced express set £25 three-course menu to the wonderous a la carte menu or the Sunday lunch. Went there on a Saturday afternoon. Their set lunch is called Express menu (light and informal), £25 for 3 courses, but don't be afraid it'll be in a rush because they served it on a relaxing tempo. For us, the quantity was more than enough. Food was very tasty, I most loved the wild mushroom risotto with black truffles as it was really well executed! Overall, reasonably priced for this food quality. The service was excellent too, and so did the ambience. Well done, Ronnie's team!

I've been to Ronnie's before, and I thought the food was absolutely fantastic, in a beautiful ambient setting, so of course had to go back! On this return visit I was struck again by the comfortable yet refined decor, the fabulous selection of food available, and the sheer quality and attention to detail in the meal. In addition, the waiter went above and beyond in every way; unfortunately I had two fussy eaters with me that I hadn't known about in advance and he made sure to amend dishes and do everything he could to accommodate not only their needs, but their specific preferences (for example, one cannot have different foods touching each other, so they changed the entire plating for him). Absolutely recommend to anybody, this is a place not to be missed

We visited on a weeknight and had an amazing time. The food and service were exceptional. I struggled to find a menu before visiting, and I think they update it regularly. I would highly recommend it to anyone; it is expensive but it's worth every penny.

We’ve just had our work Christmas Lunch at Ronnie’s and it was fabulous. Beautifully and imaginatively presented, palatable courses which proved delicious without exception. We were greeted on arrival and exceptionally well looked after throughout. If that weren’t enough, the atmosphere and Christmas decorations were charming. Highly recommended!

Myself and my partner had stumbled into Thornbury and found Ronnie's for a quick lunch. Little did we know that this would be the best restaurant we had ever visited! To begin with, the waiter was very friendly and showed us to our table. We quickly noticed that the decor was fantastic, there were beautiful flowers on each table and the background music was perfect. Amazing start. We picked our menu choices and were absolutely stunned how beautiful and how tasty each plate was. You can tell that Ronnie's have taken a lot of time to carefully create these dishes as they are so unique in terms of the combinations used. The wine choices were absolutely spot on too, we were fans of the Hungarian wine options available. The experience was so special, myself and my partner returned again a couple days later for Sunday lunch. We 100% recommend Ronnie's, we are already planning that we will return again and literally cannot wait.

Small taster dishes at lunchtime. It more than sufficed as a light lunch. All food is freshly cooked so it is not rushed but well worth the wait. Quiet, relaxed feeling with a very attentive, friendly and approachable waiter. Will return for evening dining; looking forward to the 6 course tasting menu with 'Flight wines'.
