Booked a table for 18.30 in Saturday, when we arrived we were ignored for ages before finally stopping a waiter and asked to be seated. That more or less set the standard for our visit. Chaos, people waiting 45 mins to be served others who arrived later being served instantly. Food was fine, nothing special but good portion size, cost reasonable too. Tables very cramped and no atmosphere.

My date and I attended the restaurant on Saturday evening. The atmosphere was intimate and the food was amazing... some of the best Chinese food we've ever had. Our favourite dish was the roast duck and salt & pepper squid. Our waitress was also lovely and attentive. We will definitely be returning soon!

This restaurant has a quiet and modest front, and you'd be forgiven for not thinking much when you walk past, but you'd also be gravely mistaken. We tried set menu B. All the food we had was excellent, but in particular the crispy lamb pancakes were inspired. The staff were so attentive and kind. Always asking us whether we were ready for the next course. We never felt rushed. At the price point this might be the best Chinese in Bristol.

Tried this restaurant recently off the back of recommendations and gladly can say I was not disappointed and I’m sure you wouldn’t be either! A very authentic and homely feel to the restaurant, warm and quiet spot with quirky basement vibe. We ordered both set menu B and C because why not! 4 us ate here and we had more than enough good food. I’ll talk over some of my highlights from the set menus, my favourite overall was certainly the sweet and sour chicken, crispy yet tender with real sweet and sour flavour running through out the dish pack a real punch and depth of flavour which just kept making you want to eat more and more. Other hits on menus were - king prawns in ginger and spring onions, beef in black bean sauce, aromatic crispy lamb pancakes and mention to the mixed starts, ribs were succulent and juicy, and satay chicken was perfect. Overall some really nice dishes, not full of oil or greasy like a take away, really flavourful and thought out dishes, not a massive menu here and the dishes they do they really know about. Nothing bad to say about this spot and I would rate this visit a solid 8/10! Will return that’s for sure!

We booked this restaurant for our anniversary as we wanted to eat Chinese. We thought to give this place a try as we never heard or tried this place before. When we walked-in it didn't look that great from outside and it's well hidden too. But when we went inside we were warmly welcomed and given seat next to the fish tank. It was nice for them to give us a table which is a bit better and different for our anniversary. Food quality was good and portion size was generous. I really enjoyed their chow main and crispy aromatic duck. Overall it's a nice place with delicious food and service is good.

The food was excellent, the flavours were great and the showmanship with the sizzling king prawns was unexpected but amazing. Service was prompt and we were well catered too. The staff took extra care to listen to my partners allergy requirements and provide clarification to ensure safety and satisfaction. The atmosphere however leaves a little to be desired. Feeling somewhat dated, it struggles to create the cozy atmosphere it tries to imply. This isn't to say it's bad, but small details such as paper tablecloths, plastic chopsticks and ambient lighting could be improved upon. The fish tank was a fun unexpected bonus though. Overall a great restaurant, where you can enjoy some seriously good food away from the chaos of the city. Dishes may be on the pricey side, but you get great value for money.

We haven’t been to Emperor Court for ages but we’re so glad we decided to come here again this evening. The food was excellent, freshly cooked, hot and good quality ingredients. The service was great and we felt very welcome.

First time visit as passing. Went for takeaway. Super friendly waiter staff, ten min wait. Was £5 more than my local but it was very tasty and beef was not stringy or chewy.I would definitely visit again. Had a free bag of prawn crackers and pot of curry sauce.

Negative: I hate paper table cloths in a restaurant. Positive: Excellent food and service. Piping hot and tasty. One of the best Chinese meals I've eaten in a long time. Also, we did notice how clean the restaurant was. Seemed to have a steady flow of custom while we were there.

Menu items are what you'd expect from any British Chinese restaurant. Quality is good, it meets the price point, as does the atmosphere. Service is great, friendly and attentive. The larger round tables have Lazy Susans. You're really going to get exactly what you expect from a classic Chinese restaurant when you come here. The takeaway options seem a little limited, notably there are decent vegetarian/vegan options on the restaurant menu but none on the takeaway menu. In fact, the only way to get a good vegetarian takeaway meal is to get the vegetarian sharing platter for two, which includes items not listed individually. Strange. Perhaps they accept special requests? Despite this, there were plenty of orders coming in for takeaway/delivery when I dined in on a quiet Tuesday night, some seemingly from regulars, so it can't be bad.
