Went to pick up a prescription, I told the person behind the counter that there were two I needed to pick up. She gave me a number, as she walked off I said shall I sit here she said yes. 10 minutes later, after I asked someone else about the number he said you need to wait out there and look at the screen to be called… would of been nice to be told that. I move and my number comes up fine, I go get my prescription and confirm there’s two here to pick up, no he only had one. I said she sent two prescriptions, he checks the computer, oh yeah, here’s a number, β€˜You’ll have to wait again’. 45 minutes in total I am waiting for the prescriptions, unacceptable. I said at the beginning I had two 0 communication and 0 communication on how the place works.

Contrary to the previous bad reviews I found this pharmacy very efficient yesterday. I was in and out within the free grace time for the car park which was a nice surprise. Obviously busy at times but there is a good system where you are given a number and sit in the waiting area. Your order status is shown on a screen and if you are registered with the hospital a text arrives as soon as your prescription is ready. Counter staff were knowledgable and helpful and even knew the local bus times for the patient in front of me! Only slight drawback, A&E tell patients that the pharmacy opens at 8am when they actually open at 9AM. If you have spent the night in hospital the trick is to move your car out at 8am to get the free overnight parking, then come back after 9am and hope you are out again quickly!

The pharmacist from Boots called us in the car as we were driving home to say they were from the 'A & E pharmacy' and we must come back to get the prescription. My wife told her we already had enough medicine at home and we would go to our local pharmacy. The Boots pharmacist insisted we return to the hospital where the prescription would be waiting in A&E which was a lie. I had to go on crutches for 200 metres and then wait 25 mins for the prescription! And pay for more parking! Totally unnecessary !!

Saw a specialist and he already sent in my prescription (just one) by the time I went downstairs to Boots. Great! Got my ticket at 12.07 and I told the chemist I'll wait for it. Then sat down on the chair *by the till he's working on* for the next 40 minutes. I finally got up & queued again to check on my meds, only to be handed my meds & was told it was ready. If he called me, I didn't hear him (he's soft spoken anyway). Was it that much of a bother to let me know my prescription was ready when I was practically sat next to him? Talk about waste of time and inefficiency. Plus lack of common sense and basic customer service. Please do better. Based on the poor reviews on this, it's not a new problem. Where's management?

Really poorly run! No clear idea of where and how the queuing system works, slow progress which left ill and sick people having to stand up. Why it takes so long when other pharmacies elsewhere are much much quicker I do not know...

The staff are lovely and in my experience always professional and apologetic about the wait. Had to use this pharmacy about a dozen times this years and never queued for less than half an hour, worst was 2 hours but that was particularly busy that day in outpatients department. There is always some confusion with members of the public not knowing which lines to join, once you inside the pharmacy it has 2 clear signs but outside there is just a long queue that people naturally join only to find out when they get to the front they are in the wrong queue. Better signage outside the pharmacy would help and also signage explaining the process and the ticketing service as if your prescription sent to the pharmacy you assume you can pick up. But atlas you still need to join the queue to obtain a ticket then head to the waiting area. As mentioned the staff have always been good with me and it is a particularly busy due to location but some better organisation by boots would make the experience much better for members of the public and a much less stressful environment for their staff

Really awful. Feel so sorry for the staff that work there. It’s the worst system I’ve ever experienced. Wait over an hour for ticket number then queue for another 40 minutes to collect. No consideration for people unable to sit / stand for that length of time. Left without needed medication and staff unable to provide any solution. Sad.

Had an hour long wait for simple prescription. Some waited more than I did, only old patient really needed help in the queue but staff was cold to anyone needs and plights..

Abysmally run; elderly people, pregnant women and people unable to stand left to queue for the better part of an hour. People in wheelchairs abandoned awaiting service in the aisles of the store. No clear delineation between queues. Only one computer open to process prescriptions with a slow member of staff. Over an hour wait to get prescriptions, what is taking so long?
