First time ever to have last orders called at 9:30pm. Lovely pub, but unusual behaviour.

Nice area to sit outside, especially during a nice day. The beer was really cold, and the coffee has an extremely nice taste.

Excellent Thai restaurant, centrally located, nicely presented, good size servings at affordable prices, eg £3.95 for lemon rice. Even less sun-thurs with meerkat. Other reviewers may have been expecting haute cuisine for a pittance. Most importantly, the young staff were so honest to tell us we had overpaid. Leading to a deserved extra tip.

Old and deladated paint work the toilets are in a sorry state and the staff don't know what she brought to the table.

We've eaten and had drinks here a few times and I've held off reviewing The Swan thinking "it will be better next time". Sadly I think it might be just a bit rubbish. The live music events have been cancelled whenever we've tried to go, with no sign outside to say so (cue a constant stream of disappointed folks coming in and leaving again (probably quite telling that none of them chose to stay in spite of the cancelled live music)). The drinks selection is arguably the worst in town and the food not much better. The Thai food that came from the kitchen was a variety of different temperatures and quality and why anyone would elect to come here for Thai food when there's another, exceptional, Thai restaurant in town is beyond me. On our last visit our table ordered a bottle of white wine from the wine list, some of which was in stock and some wasn't. The bottle that we did successfully manage to order wasn't from the fridge and were told to keep it in the ice bucket for a while to cool down. Suffice to say the meal (which was colder than the wine) was finished long before the wine cooled down. In a town that has such an abundance of high-quality eateries and drinking holes, I would avoid The Swan in search of somewhere better
