Great food and great value served by a friendly owner. A hidden gem. It's very worthwhile leaving the canal path and taking two minute cycle up the hill past The Bridge Inn to find a friendly reception and delicious homemade food.

From the moment we arrived, we knew it was the best Coffee shop of our trip to Scotland. The simple decor, together with the signs on the walls (which spoke directly to us) and the amazing bathroom wallpaper, were all super welcoming! Then, we tasted the amazing, home cooked to perfection meals and latte/capuccino! And, we were entertained by local residents telling stories of their wedding and decade long marriage. We also witnessed the local driver escorting the well known town mascot -an elderly gentleman who frequents the shop daily- to his ride. We were told “ don’t help him, he has better footing on his own!” We were lucky enough the meet the owner and she took a picture with our mascot! DEFINITELY visit and you will feel right at home!

We stopped over this cafe in Rathos for a much needed cup of coffee, and we finally understood what the other reviewers meant by “great coffee and great banter”. Seriously, so stop by this cafe and have a chat with the proprietor. No matter how grey your day looks, it will definitely look better after that. I wish we could also have had lunch here since the food looked amazing, but hopefully we may have a chance to come back for lunch.

Really lovely local cafe, clean and bright inside and wonderfully friendly staff. Staff were able to accommodate our gluten free person and the food was all excellent and reasonably priced. Great coffee and carrot cake too!
