A quaint spot in Edinburgh for asian food. The waiting was long but the ambience and service was great! The menu is short and has a selection of few seasonal dishes. We tried the pulled noodles which were good.
Small but mighty menu. Ordered the chicken sandwich and the noodles (pork with chili sauce). The sandwich came with a kimchi slaw, and the noodles had a fresh and savory sauce...I think both dishes should be enjoyed together. The space is also small. Went as soon as it opened, and service was rapid. Saw that they seat you family style with strangers if you are a smaller group of one or two, but I don't believe they take reservations.
This is place is incredible. 5 stars across the board. The restaurant is small, but not overcrowded. We booked a few weeks in advance so definitely recommend booking early. The staff are very knowledgeable and efficient. Once we were seated the waitress came over to take our coats and explain the menu to us. She also gave us some excellent recommendations (we got almost everything she recommended). The food was amazing. Dishes came out really quick and were cleared quickly when we were finished. We tried the banchan, salmon, chicken, duck, and of course, the pomelo noodles. They also have really fun non alcoholic drinks which was a plus. We are only in Edinburgh for a few days, but next time we are in town we'll come back to Pomelo.
We booked the restaurant for my partner’s birthday and it was the perfect choice. The food was beyond amazing and unique. Portions were perfect for you to be able to taste so many things. The staff were AMAZING they were so attentive and friendly. They even brought a candle for my partner on the dessert when they knew it was his birthday. The atmosphere of the place is very nice as well for special occasions. Overall everything was great this is a must visit place in Edinburgh.
Quaint and artsy food joint. The staff/chef was really friendly and welcoming. Food unfortunately did not live up to the expectations, personally. Hand pulled braised pork noodles - the noodles were too thick and slightly undercooked for my liking. Braised pork was flavorful but dry as it had been microwaved. Scallion and truffle oil noodle - noodles were chewy with a pleasant bite. There was a sour undertone to the dish (?ketchup) that wasn't mentioned in the description; would have chosen a different dish instead. Generally rather plain noodles with only faint hint of truffle.
This is one of the best restaurants in the city. It has brilliant food that can't be found or replicated elsewhere. They have constant dishes and also a rotating seasonal menu both of which are delicious. Been for lunch and dinner multiple times and this gets the highest recommendations.
Great Chinese / Asian food in a little café at Marchmont. We ordered the handsome Pomelo Chicken Sandwich, with Gochujang chicken in a Pineapple Bun (originated in Hong Kong) - the sweet top crust on the bun was well done. And the hand ripped noodles with braised pork was even more impressive. Made on the spot, the noodles were chewy and springy in texture, and the soy dressing with sesame oil was a flavourful compliment. An enjoyable meal.
I don't know if I can find the words to describe how wonderful this place is! I booked for my husbands birthday on a Saturday evening. The place was small, warm and comfortable. We picked up some amazing beers from around the corner which was great and so handy. We had a selection of most of the dishes, each one was well prepared and absolutely incredibly delicious. Particular favourite was the special macaroni and kim chi pie. The food changes all the time but I've no doubt any dish they make would be delicious. The staff were so friendly and gave amazing service. Both just brilliant. Not only all of this, but they made a special birthday cheesecake for my husband. It was beautifully made, so tasty, and made us both a bit emotional! I know that's maybe dramatic but it was just so nice. On top of all this, the prices are so reasonable. Less than £50 for all the food, and we ordered enough for 4 probably. Thank you so much for such a lovely time. We can't wait to be back - we will bring friends.
