First one in the door around 1:15 this afternoon. Decor is a 10, the gentleman behind the bar was friendly and open for a quick chat and the beer was delicious. Add in being dog friendly and there is nothing more you could want in a pub. Absolute treasure and would stop back in a heartbeat.

Such a cute place. The stuff was really friendly and the mulled gin amazing

The Vinnie was a great drop in. Walking the historic area led us to this wonderful basement bar. The pies were good, the beer was cold and the people were friendly. I’d love to be a regular. They embrace classic rock, dogs and community. It’s a great place to meet with friends and laugh out loud or bring a date and talk deep talks. One of the top limited food service pit s we visited and a must do if you’re in the area.

Great bar on the entrance to Stockbridge- just next to the photogenic Circus Lane. You have to wait to be seated but it is a bar. Been in Edinburgh for years and only just found it. Nice vibe.

An unexpectedly awesome experience. As the sun was setting and my phone was dying, I turned the corner at the church and saw the lovely flowers and lights out front of this unassuming basement bar on the corner. Ventured in and it opened up into a vibrant, energetic pub with friendly folk and great vibes. A younger crowd but I struck up a nice conversation with an older local who recently moved back to town. Bartenders know their stuff and make some great-looking cocktails but I settled for a pint of cask ale. Great interior with some cool memorabilia. Would return without hesitation.

Great pub! The warm gin drink (served in a teacup) was a delight & the bartender found my husbands phone and chased us inside to return it to him.

This place has been through many permutations since it was my local ten over years ago, not all of them as good as the original, but it’s current incarnation has recaptured much of what I used to love about the place. The staff are brilliant and the space is amazing --- a dark, sunken, Victorian drinking hole with windows onto street level, in the heart of the New Town --- and at last, it once again has a properly decent range of interesting beers to cover essential every taste. In my books, this now tied with the Cumberland for the best bar between the river and George Street β€”- but they’re both great, and very different, so it might be worth a few more visits just to make sure that I’m being fair… ;-)

Booked a table and had a really lovely staff evening here. We had table service initially which was unexpected but nice. The hot gin was absolutely lovely, sadly pretty expensive at Β£7.50 for just the teacup but it was worth it for only one! Great atmosphere and place, I really liked it.

I hadn't been here for 20 years and it has definitely changed, but it is still a great pub.

Really enjoy this bar just off one of the best mews allys in Britain. Nicely decorated and light particularly for the semi basement bar. Staff are friendly and is excellently situated.
