After a couple of tough years dealing with car troubles and feeling let down by garages that left me with big bills and unresolved issues, I had almost lost all trust in the industry. I drive a Volvo and on a recent trip back from London I needed a repair to my Heat Shield to complete my journey home. I was advised by this very reputable Volvo Garage in Stoke that they had given My car a temporary repair, enough to get home and charged me not a small amount. They recommended a new Heat Shield needs fitting. I have just picked it up from Bradburys who are my local Garage expecting a monster bill because I am advised Volvo parts do not come cheap. I was indeed floored but it was how cheap the bill was. I was advised that my car did not need a brand new Heat shield as there was plenty of life in the old one. It just needed to be fitted better with new fixings as indeed the old ones were "goosed". Such honesty is a rare thing to encounter. But a blessing at this time of the month when funds are needed and for me needs applauded. Ecause of my experience, Bradbury Motors Ltd certainly gets a thumbs up from me. Holcroft Volvo in Stoke on Trent however certainly do not.

Took my car for an air-con re-gas. Went to collect it later that day to be told that when they put it on the machine, it wouldn't re-gas because the system was totally empty & so it must have a leak & therefore the machine wouldn't fill with fresh gas. Fair enough, however Bradburys then went on to give me a piece of paper with a quote of well over £600 to replace the condenser (yes you read that right... that was their quote for a condenser, not a compressor!!). When I asked how they knew it was the condenser, they replied "That's what it usually is - it's probably rusted out or a stone has gone through it". With a £600+ quote in my hand, I asked Bradburys if it was definitely the condenser and had they run a dye test to confirm. They hadn't. It was clear that they'd just given me an extortionate quote for a 'parts canon' approach. I politely declined & said I'd think about it. Took the car home and whipped off the condenser a couple of weeks later. Not a spot of rust on it, nor any stone damage. I pressure tested it & it was fine. I reckoned that as I rarely used the air-con, the rubber seals had shrunk a little and, over the course of 5-6 years, the gas had slowly leaked out. I put a couple of new seals in (costing pennies) when I refitted the condenser and then took it to Kwik-Fit to be gassed up as they have a guarantee that if it doesn't work then you pay nothing. That was 19 months ago & my air-con has been operating perfectly & ice cold ever since. Bradbury Motors Ltd in Cockenzie / Port Seton were attempting to charge me over £600 for work that didn't need done. They clearly hadn't even looked at the condenser at all before claiming that it was leaking due to rust or stone damage. Even if it had of been damaged, £600+ was an extortionate quote considering the price of the part + the labour involved. Maybe as I'd just moved in to the area & they hadn't seen me before, they thought I was fair game to be ripped-off. Anyone unfamiliar with working on cars might just have accepted this quote however I know exactly what they were up to & have given Bradbury Motors a wide-berth ever since!
Top guys. I needed my ADAS system recalibrated but had to go to an Audi dealer to fix the problem. Steven took into account the monies that I had paid for the unsuccessful calibration and set it against another job which had to be done. Very good service and I highly recommend this company. I will use them again without any hesitation.

Well run, very professional family run garage with full Bosch diagnostics. I had an issue with my BMW, rough running & engine management lights on which my local garage could not fix. Stuart methodically worked through the possible causes , clearly explaining why & what till a conclusion was reached and fix was completed.Very fair pricing and kept to the origional estimate even when some more work was required. Great to have these guys on side when you don't know where to go next ( dead to think what BMW would have charged !! ). Would not hesitate to recommend, jamie
