Was in tonight 23/12/25 after being there two years ago after office gathering. I had so enjoyed last time I was there it was a thing I had to do again. Sadly I got served by a person with the personality of a door and she, if I’m allowed to use that term nowadays is more akin to someone who should become a traffic warden and I apologise to all wardens who I’m sure are nicer people.

I wish all bartenders in this world were as wonderful as the ones at the Ventoux. A stunning rendition of people with impeccable music taste and a flair for bartending. Atmosphere, vibes and a delicious Guinness not to be sniffed at.

We had such a brilliant time at this pub during our recent visit to Edinburgh. The long-haired barman was an absolute star—polite, friendly, and wonderfully chatty. He handled our group of loud, laughing 50-year-olds with total ease and good humour, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. He also gave us great tips on places to visit around Edinburgh, which we really appreciated. It’s rare to meet someone behind the bar who’s not only excellent at their job but genuinely enjoys making guests feel at home. I’ll be returning in January with my husband and sons, and I truly hope the same lovely gentleman is serving that day. He made the visit memorable, and we can’t wait to come back!

Came in on a Friday evening around 8/9pm, really busy atmosphere - filled with students and also people who you could tell were locals. The bartenders were friendly and prompt, had a lot of knowledge about the beers they sold and recommended a few nearby pubs to go too. Cosy and a quirky vibe - I’ll definitely be back. Ps music was great

Not going to lie I had a really great time at the bar. Bartender dropped a few glasses through the night but there was such a great atmosphere it didn’t matter. it really made my night and I would really recommend this bar to people looking to have a fun time at a quirky bar with great vibes. Also just to say that the bartenders were excellent at serving pints et cetera

I can’t say what it is about this place but I just can’t seem to find the right door in. I’ve been trying for years and even from the back. I think there’s a back anyway… is there? If not, whose back garden am I in!? I suppose they’ve not asked me to leave yet because I look dangerous. Not in a bad way, just like avoidable looking. I did once threaten a guy but that was over some beans thing we had going on at the time. Nothing really. This place has the stuff.

Good craft and generic beer offerings. Try the Neck Oil if you like an IPA, far too easy to drink and it doesn't get boring. Love the atmosphere of the place too, laid back and not selfconcious, but also cool at the same time. Will be going back.

A laid back bar good for a relaxed pint. They have cool bicycles as decor and a great Artobotic machine for original artwork (but check that it works).
