Nipped in for some lunch yesterday. I opted for the venison stew. Sweet baby Jesus it was glorious. We were served by the brilliant Sarah and Angus and what a delight they both were. The pilsner was beaut and we didn't really want to leave in honesty. The Shoogly Peg is opposite (sister pub) where they have live music, sometimes by the glorious Angus if you're lucky! Definitely worth a visit and you won't be disappointed

Such a gem! We happened to enjoy live music there on a Tuesday night and had so much fun! I don’t know if they do any announcements or how often that takes place, though. The burger was okay, the battered fish with chips and peas was amazing, the portion was huge — and all that for a reasonable price!

Loved this place! Husband and I stopped in during our stay last month - had a great experience! We grabbed a couple of pints and ordered the fish and chips (trust me, it's sharable!). The food came out SUPER quick - don't think we waited more than 5 minutes, and was fantastic. The fish was piping hot, flaky and crispy (perfect fish and chips crisp - although the table by us had issue with how crispy it was lol). Our server was awesome - she was quick and very attentive. Had a lot of fun and would for sur recommend!

Tasty and we didn't wait for long, the staff was very friendly. The food was good, but not mind-blowing. Would probably come again, especially because it was quick and we didn't need a reservation

Just had a quick lunch. Fish & Chips were ok. Fish very well deep fried, both peas and fries weren't seasoned. A quite nice atmosphere, but somehow nothing special. Definitely not bad, but also not a pub you absolutely have to have been to."

Good little pub with a nice menu that is reasonably priced. I had the beef burger which for £10 was a really good deal. It was tasty and a good sized portion, also served with fries. Staff were friendly and attentive. Grab a table, grab a menu and order at the bar. It got quite busy over lunch time so get in quick.

A great pub away from the busy Royal mile. Here at lunch time and got a super seat in the window. Small baskets of fried things were just what I wanted. Service was speedy and friendly.

Really enjoyed this pub. We sat outside, bar staff is really helpful and came around quick enough for the much needed refills. Had a nice chat with one of the locals. The haggis balls and fried mac and cheese bits were lovely.
