Excellent service. Brian is cheerful, so helpful and kind. I had a puncture and he fit me in quickly and even cheered up my boys who missed their football because of it. All the staff seem pretty happy and get a long well and it shows in the service you get. I can't rate them higher and because of their treatment of their customers I will always use their service now. This is the third time I've been here and each time it has just been a+ service.

I had a very disappointing experience at this MOT centre. The manager, Brian, was by far the rudest person I’ve dealt with in any garage. My car failed its MOT and I was immediately pushed to have the repairs done there for more than £800. The parts and labour were quoted at a price that seemed excessive, so I checked with a few other garages. Every single one told me the quote I received was far too high. When I went back to ask for alternative quotes, since prices can vary by supplier, I was told they could only offer the one figure. Instead of explaining anything properly, they suggested I could pay in instalments if I couldn’t afford it. The whole interaction felt unhelpful and dismissive. I had the work done elsewhere for much less using good quality parts. When I returned for a retest, Brian said it would fail again before even looking at the car or putting it on the ramp. He also talks over you on the phone and doesn’t listen. Looking at other reviews, I can see this isn’t an isolated issue. It seems they fail more MOTs than they pass. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Been taking my cars to my local Farmers for servicing, MOT’s and everything in between for over 5 years now and never had a single problem. Highly recommended.

My experience at Farmers Auto Care was the worst I've ever had. I brought my car in for a service and MOT, clearly advising them that my engine light was on. I explained it needed to be fixed before the MOT, as I still had a few days left on my current certificate. I dropped my car off at 8:00 am and heard nothing by 2:00 pm. I checked the government MOT website and discovered they had failed my car. When I called to ask why they performed the MOT before the service, they simply replied, "Sorry, that is not possible always." Fair enough, maybe that's their policy, or perhaps it's a way to make more money. The reason for the failure was the engine light. The funny thing is, they then turned the light off without fixing the underlying problem, passed the MOT, and told me to rebook if the light came back on. They admitted they didn't know the cause and that it needed a deeper investigation, yet they still charged me a £50 "diagnostic" fee for this non-diagnosis. They also failed to apply the online discount for booking a service and MOT together. I ended up paying approximately £460. The very next day, the engine light came back on. I called them, and they said they would need to remove the battery and other parts to find the issue, at a cost of £90 per labour hour. I took the car back in, they replaced the temperature sensor, and charged me £380 for three hours of labour. They assured me the car was fixed. I drove it home, and guess what? The engine light was back on! Imagine my disappointment after spending around £800 at a garage without having the original issue resolved. They charged me for diagnostics, parts, and labour for nothing. It would have been better if they had just told me they couldn't fix it. Instead, they took my money and then advised me to take the car to Mercedes. Completely disappointed!

I have had the worst experience I’ve ever had dealing with a garage. I put in my car for its MOT to which it failed on a few things, and was told that they would get everything priced up and get back to me, I waited two days and phoned back myself on Friday to check on the progress and they told me it was just about priced up but they are waiting for one more thing, and that it’s looking likely to be around £700 but I would hear back once confirmed. I then sent the MOT failings to another couple mechanics who said that this quote seemed very high for the work and so I took that on board and waited to hear back on the final amount. I then heard back from Farmers and they said it would cost around £921 to which I was quite shocked and told them that I’ll maybe go somewhere else and will let them know on Monday. Over the weekend I phoned around and spoke to the mechanics who I had previously spoken too and they said they couldn’t fit me in for over a week, I use my car for work and was needing it a lot sooner plus I would then need to pay for the MOT retest, so decided I would need to just stick with Farmers Livingston. I phoned on Monday and let the mechanic know and he said no problem I was booked in already on Monday so will get it done then or tomorrow (Tuesday). I then had to phone myself on Tuesday at 4 after not hearing anything and expecting to be able to pick my car up but was told it would now definitely be ready the next day (Wednesday). I then phoned Wednesday and was told the same thing for Thursday and phoned Thursday and was told the same thing for Friday. I was also told then that the quote could go up even more to over £1000, when I argued this the gentleman said that, okay we may be making a loss here but I’ll honour the quote of £921. I don’t believe that the work needing done for £921 could possibly be making a loss. I then asked them Thursday evening can they guarantee that it will be ready and retested by Friday lunchtime as I had lost all faith and trust at this point and really needed my car by the weekend, and they said yes, himself and the man working on the car are in tomorrow and will definitely get it done. I phoned up on the Friday and spoke to someone who said he had no idea about the situation and the gentleman I had been dealing with and spoken to on Thursday and the days prior had the day off today as well as the other mechanic. I even confirmed if it was a planned day off or an absence and he confirmed it’s his day off. I feel this reflects the whole experience which has been unbelievably awful and full of runarounds, with changing dates, changing extortionate quotes, and having to reach out myself every time or be left in the dark. I was finally able to pick up my car on the Saturday (which was now nearer the date the other cheaper garage could have done it by) and although the gentleman at the desk was apologetic of the previous issues that occurred during my car being in for its MOT, which I appreciate, I don’t feel like this situation has been handled well and I’m still left to pay up an almost £1000 bill as well as facing new issues. I picked up my car and was just honestly left feeling defeated. Upon getting into it the entire contents of my glove box was emptied out onto the car floor. I purposely left the lock nut and service book on the passenger seat as I knew there was a lot of things in here that I didn’t want the mechanics to have to sift through. The car mats were just chucked in sideways also. There was polish dripping down the front of my car from the lights being cleared which I had to go and pay to clean at a car wash, and one of my dust caps on the front tire was missing. My dash cam was also left unplugged which may be common practice but it leaves me feeling more frustrated and skeptical after all the other issues I have had and seems unnecessary. I’d really recommend to stay away from this garage so you don’t have to face all the problems I’ve had to deal with.

Would have given 0 Stars but google has asked for 1 Further to my visit yesterday One of the employees Jack (with the beard) was assigned the job to carry out the wheel alignment whilst waiting in the reception Jack thought it would be a good idea to take my car for a fast road test, not sure why he felt the need to do this or perhaps this is how farmers teach there employees to drive? Not sure what Jack was expecting but it’s only a Focus ST Diesel ? After asking Peter - Branch Manager about why the car has been tested he said that this was part of the service and that it was necessary to assure the steering wheel was straight ? Unsure why this would be the case when the steering wheel is set prior to setting up the laser guides on the wheels, or Jack isn’t confident in the equipment used ? Whilst speaking to Peter , Jack then took the car out yet again for another test drive which Peter commented he was driven fine now? Due to how the car has been drive I refused to pay for the service, Peter still didn’t have an explanation as to why this has happened but was happy to release the car back free of charge Don’t understand how this branch can be making money if they are carrying out work FREE of charge ? Or perhaps they were happy to defuse the situation as Jack was in the wrong ? I pressume this has been escalated to Human Resources and your employee has been disciplined and put this on his record as to what happened yesterday I asked for something in writing however I was given a piece of paper with some info it. Can you pls arrange for a computerised invoice Free of Charge to be issued to me along with a detailed report as to why Farmers allowed your employee Jack to drive my vehicle in this manner then release it back without payment The point isn’t that the car has been road tested it’s the manner and speed it was carried out in Avoid this garage and try else where
