I don't get the bartender everyone talks about. If they don't like people... Why work in hospitality? Maybe they like barging customers out the way to replace tea lights and slamming glasses when collecting them? Who knows. An enigma, but an entertaining one.
Absolutely brilliant pub.The interior is stylish but still feels like a proper, comfortable local. The Guinness is perfect, and they have a great range of gins and beers. The staff are lovely and the vibe is always spot on. A worthy tribute to its namesake! A real gem on Albert Road.
One of the bartenders here is so awful to customers... just weirdly aggressive and even physical with people for no reason. I've worked in bars for years and I know that sometimes customers can be a pain and it all gets on top of you, but I've seen this woman kick off over absolutely nothing. While the rest of the staff seem great, this one woman ruins it with her constant hostility. A bunch of us used to drink here often but after the last run in with her, none of us have been back. Nobody wants to pay money to be in a pub, only to have the atmosphere killed by a staff member with clear anger issues. I won't mention her name because everyone knows exactly who I mean. I have no idea why someone who hates people this much would want to work in a bar. I don't wish any ill on her, but she's really not suited for this industry and I hope she finds a different job that doesn't make her so bitter and nasty.
After a few frosty encounters with the horrendously grumpy female bartender, I genuinely thought, “It must be me” But after reading the reviews, I’m thrilled to discover, it’s not me, it’s definitely her! Why someone who so clearly despises human interaction would choose a career in hospitality is one of life’s great mysteries. The only logical explanation is that she’s related to the owner?!? It’s almost impressive how much silent rage she radiates while pouring a pint. If your staff are actively scaring off customers, wouldn’t you, as a business owner, start to wonder whether it’s time for a little rethink? I think she would be much happier as a bouncer, maybe time for a new career?
Been in here a few times now before football games at Hampden. Can get busy but enough space for seating or standing. Had a pint of Murphys that was delicious. So much better than elsewhere I've tried. Staff always friendly despite being busy with serving
Had to visit. After all it’s named after one of the greatest Scottish footballers in living memory. The feisty, irrepressible Rose Reilly. So I’m happy with what we found. Good range of drinks and lovely bar staff, beautiful stained glass windows and interesting pictures of the area, and of course the eponymous Rose. Eclectic clientele, good vibe. Lovely pint of Budvar after a long hard week. What’s not to love. As others have said it’s a great addition to the south side scene

Great pub, friendly environment and reasonable priced drinks
Lovely non-pretentious pub with a great atmosphere. One of the best pints of Guiness I’ve had anywhere in Glasgow. Just what Govanhill needed - would highly recommend.
