We all loved taking a tour with David! He's very fun and informative, but also an extremely likable guy; the kind you'll want to have a pie and a pint with! I hope to return to Scotland next year, and will definitely call David to take us on another tour
David could be our best friend! So personable, knowledgeable, kind, accommodating…seriously there’s no ending to the positive adjectives for him. So recommend him! He truly has to be the best tour guide in Glasgow.
David Ross is a national treasure of Scotland! He not only knows its history and the locations to visit in order to “re-live” that history, but he is also passionate about his country and conveyed that passion when explaining where we were and what we were seeing. On top of that, he is an extremely nice and patient person who listens to his guests and adjusts the itinerary when necessary to see and to do more than initially planned. As a knitter and crocheter, my wife was hoping to find yarn shops and bring home Scottish wool. She found a blogger who talked of hidden spots on the Isle of Skye. She forwarded the blog to David and asked if we were passing them by, could we stop? David researched each spot, found them on the map, contacted the shops to ascertain their open days/hours and adjusted our itinerary to visit two of the yarn shops… and the shops were wonderful and the shopkeepers were gems!! His passion is not only his country but also making sure his guests have an unforgettable experience in his country and with his countrymen. My wife and I worked through a terrific travel agent, who set up our trip to Scotland after listening to what we hoped to see and do. The itinerary from the agent included seven days with David, as our driver, guide…and friend. David studied the itinerary in advance of meeting us and adjusted the itinerary, in order to take us to places that most tourists miss by sticking to the usual places to visit in Scotland. To be sure, David took us everywhere on our agent’s itinerary, but he also took us to places not on the itinerary that he knew we would love. We enjoyed the landscape with its countless waterfalls, a close visit with the “hairy coos,” quaint towns with wonderful pubs, cemeteries and castles not on our initial itinerary, battlefields, wonderful distilleries and tastings, and much, much more. His explanations of all of this helped us understand Scotland’s history and the importance of these locations to that history. In addition, David gave us suggestions for what to do and where to eat, after he dropped us off at an inn or a B&B, where we would stay for the evening. He even drove us to a restaurant, after we had been dropped off at our inn, when no local transportation was available. That was “above and beyond” and greatly appreciated. We cannot say enough good things about David, and we cannot recommend him highly enough. He is the best and deserves more than a five-star rating. PS Please consider visiting Scotland and especially the Isle of Skye in the autumn — it is glorious! The colors, the waterfalls, the moors are spectacular and there are not as many tourists. Such a beautiful and enjoyable time to visit this land of Wonders. Just be sure you do it with David! He also becomes your personal photographer! Taking photos of you and for you throughout your adventure and sharing them each night! He is amazing…look at the photos to see the one of him on the rock he climbed to take a photo of us!
David is an absolute gem, and we were very lucky to find him for our Scotland trip. David met us at the airport, with a smile on his face and ready to help in any way he could, despite the cool and rainy weather. . We had lots and lots of luggage, never complained and always happy to help. We did have laughs over our luggage( my aunt liked to shop and we brought to many cold Weather clothes. We lucked out with amazing weather. ). David is punctual, professional and as a local Glasgowegin who is very knowledgeable. We used David’s services at the front end and back end of our trip, and would have used him the for the full 3 weeks if we could. He goes above and beyond for his clients, literally. He secured items we couldn’t find and even went to a golf course, on his own time, to buy a special golf shirt to bring home to my husband. He made sure we saw a Hairy Coo and took us to Castle Stalker, one of the many places, we never would have found on our own. I took my 78 year old Aunt on her bucket list to Scotland, and he made it extra special for her. He always looked out for us and went the extra mile to meet her needs. ( day 3, He made a special pit atop to secure Scottish oats for my aunt and the NC 500 part of the trip. Hence photo.) His Mercedez van is very comfortable, stocked with water and little candy trays. He made great hotel, food and attraction recommendations for the times we toured the NC 500 and Outer Hebrides on our own. David is not just your driver and your tour guide, but he is a true Scottish gentleman. You get authenticity, trust, dependability and heart, when you book wirh David. We highly recommend his services, you will NOT be disappointed.
Our time with David Ross was beyond what we could have imagined! His communication right from the beginning was prompt, thorough and so helpful in planning this trip for our family. David accommodated everything we wanted to do and added some special treats of his own when time allowed. He is friendly, knowledgeable and such fun to be with. At the end our trip, my son said it best; " I fell like David is part of the family!"
We travelled to and from Edinburgh with David so that we could go to the theatre, at a time where there were train strikes and I needed to be sure that my dad, who has some mobility issues, could travel safely. Our journey was comfortable and we felt safe from beginning to end. David was kind and courteous throughout, and we would have no hesitation in recommending him to others. We plan to use this service in the future ourselves.
Cannot recommend David at Stanelydrive highly enough. His professional service standards are really above and beyond. My flight was delayed by six hours and he still came to collect me in the small hours of the morning. Glasgow airport is not well served with regular taxis. Previously I have waited at the rank for up to an hour so I was delighted to be met by David straight out of baggage reclaim and transferred quickly and comfortably to my destination.
We now live in London and we’re going to a wedding in Scotland We contacted Stanelydrive Chauffeur Services as we have used them before . David our driver was great , he picked us up at our hotel , took us to the Church in Glasgow then waited for the service to finish then took us to the hotel in Troon where the wedding reception was being held and also picked us up for the return journey the next day back to our base hotel in Paisley.
