Wonderful little store with local and sustainably sourced veg & fruit & more. I regularly go here and it's one of my happy places in Portobello.
Use it or lose it! Fantastic local shop & worth travelling to. Give the supermarket a miss!

Lovely little corner greengrocer with plenty of veg, some artisan breads, and a decent selection of other various stuffs from pickles to Asian ingredients.
Lovely shopping experience. Cheery knowledgeable staff. Great range of fresh organic fruit and veg, mostly very local. Also lots of very interesting sauces, spices and other store cupboard foods. Recommended.
Going to Root Down for a Porty resident should be part of his saturday morning routine.. you can find fresh organic fruits and vegetables and also some other organic product (rice, cereals, tea..). Staff is friendly and you will be planet-friendly saving a lot of useless plastic packagings!
Great shop but young people behind the counter unfriendly and felt as though I was a nuisance in the shop. I asked the young man hiding behind the counter if the shop stocked oatmeal. He didn’t seem to know what it is! Last Monday my husband bought milk which proved to be one day out of date. When I went to buy another later and told them what had happened the two people behind the counter just stared and said nothing. What a letdown to a much needed local shop.
