Pretty much every interaction with them in the past 10 years of living here is curt with these folk and they’re the only Americans I know…rather unhelpful and unfriendly and dread any appointments with them to be honest. Each time I go in thinking this time someone will smile or actually answer my questions without being rude or talking down to me, nope!

Declared my son's birth abroad and they gave him a little American flag and the whole waiting room applauded him. It was quite an ordeal and very American. No one loves Americans more than we love ourselves! Staff was actually very helpful and instructed me on fixing some errors i had made in some documents. Didn't expect that when dealing with government bureaucracy.

We've only had the opportunity twice to use to travel to the Consulate (register CBRA and first passports) for our two kids. Both times, we were in and out within 20 minutes. Staff are friendly and polite. There's not much there but not a big deal. Always nice to spend time in Edinburgh

Best embassy ever! 5 stars- I would highly recommend. Way better than the Kazakhstan embassy in London! They did not even know who Borat was. When I explained- they had no sense of humor.

In and out in 30 mins hardly. What an excellent service. We went for our sons passport renewal and they did all processing swiftly.. fantastic and really happy to come back to work on time! Small things really makes a difference

Bring a book, have been here a few times now for passport appointments, and there is always a wait. Arrive having been to the toilet beforehand as they don't have any for visitors. The nearest one is at the Apex hotel along the road. Staff are friendly enough, and it's very nice not to have to go to London!

My partner and I had to get documents for our newborn child. Smoothest bureaucratic experience of our lives. We were helped by Principal Officer Susan Wilson, who was friendly, helpful, and efficient. In and out in about 30 mins.
