Went on a Monday night. Able to get a table for 5.30pm on the same day. Never knew vegetables could taste so good. Delicious and flavourful. Staff were polite and friendly. Consider sitting outdoors as it is an open kitchen.

Genuinely the best meal I have ever had in my life. Absolutely every dish was indescribably good; the orange and cinnamon margarita was amazing, the shiitake mushrooms were incredible, potatoes were amazing, pizzetta was yum! The pudding was also just the best and the lovely waitress Laura kindly put a candle in it as it was for my birthday! Also the music was great! Best service, best food, best location, would give more than 5 stars if I could!

Came to Root the other week for dinner and left asking ourselves why it'd been so long since we'd eaten there. Highly recommend dinner here, it's perfect for big groups (booking recommended) or for date nights. We sat outside after walking in on a Wednesday night, and were pretty warm as the outside was covered, had heaters and blankets available. I've always loved that the menu is vegetable-led. There are so many ways to make vegetables delicious and Root are definitely experts in that field. We ordered the potato, the fish croquette, the pizzette, the carrots in tahini and the leeks with soy, smoked butter and egg yolk. Everything was beautifully cooked to show off the best flavours, but my god, the leek dish was by far my favorite. The umami depth of the soy with the light smokiness of the smoked butter paired perfectly with the slight acidity from the leek as well as the sesame and the egg yolk. What a fantastic selection of flavours in one dish. If you're in the mood for delicious food that is a bit more inventive than the usual offering, Root is a great choice.

Very popular place. Nice menu with variety to choose from. The fish was cooked to perfection. Love the shiitake mushroom skewer with amazing flavours and pickled onions. Only wish the portion could be more generous instead of just one skewer. We ordered the non-alcoholic cocktails and they’re very good. Crispy mussels with aioli was also flavoursome.

Interesting flavours! Definitely worth a try to explore vegetarian dishes with hints of familiar tastes. The house bread is a 10/10, airy and chewy bread with a crispy salty crust. The kohlrabi dish was delightfully fresh and my favourite would be the grilled leek dish, though I was not the biggest fan of the smoky flavour since it tasted quite strong. The pork chops could be a little more tender, but it paired wonderfully with the refreshing tomatoes on the plate. We ordered a pavlova to share for dessert and it was a lovely light and sweet treat to end the meal.

Root is a small and cozy restaurant in Bristol, situated in quirky shipping containers. The menu is mostly vegetarian with a wide variety of tapas-style dishes meant to share. The cocktails are nice and fresh, perfect for the hot summer. All the dishes were delicious with fresh products and interesting flavours. Personal favourite is the tempura spring onions. The staff are friendly, efficient and smiley. Overall very nice experience, recommend it!

Fresh, local, seasonal, veggie- this place ticks all the boxes but also: delicious. We had such a great meal. The spring onions and dumplings especially. Service was really friendly, especially the lady with the short blond hair. She really helped us make good menu choices. Decent cocktail & drinks menu too. Root is in a quieter spot too, so you can have a good conversation away from the crowds. I can’t wait to go back

Had the most amazing dinner at root! Every dish was interesting to eat and completely different in flavour. We had a selection of dishes however the cod was probably the best cooked fish I've ever had, melted in my mouth. The waiting staff were so friendly and chatty and really knowledgeable about all the dishes and drinks, It felt like a proper experience. Already wanting to go again and dreaming of the food today ☺️
