We booked several rooms at the Kildonan for ourselves, friends and family to stay during our wedding weekend. From our first interaction with them via email, they couldn't have been more accomodating. The staff helped us identify the rooms we would need based on our guest list and put together a quote. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with open arms and made ourselves comfortable in the lounge, as the rest of our party trickled in over the course of the evening. The rooms were spacious, well-equipped, and provided everything we needed to prepare for our big day. Each morning, breakfast was freshly made to order, absolutely delicious, and always served with a friendly smile. The entire stay truly felt like a home away from home, with the staff treating us as though we were part of their family. We couldnβt have asked for a better place to stay during our special weekend. Thank you!

Thank you so very much to all the staff in Kildonan Lodge who helped make this trip feel so much easier and special! A beautiful lodge, with gorgeous interior and exterior. Warmness spilling from the inside out, we couldn't have asked for more honestly. The lounge was the perfect spot to sit down in the morning and wait for the rest of your party to arrive, the breakfast room was gorgeous and the breakfast was so yummy - thank you to breakfast staff especially as I know most of my group made little tweaks with their menus!! This was a special family trip, and there is something so lovely about arriving somewhere and the staff knowing exactly who you are and why you are there. Thank you is not enough!

Service- they didnβt tell us about pre booking for breakfast but was assured by Ricardo the day we checked in that it would be fine if we decided to. So we showed up and was a let down. Rooms- we stayed in the conservation room, fine. Except the radiators were not working. It was warmer in the lobby room prior to heading into our room. We had to use a portable heater. Location- great for the city only downside is the entrance to the carpark where we were staying behind. Not easy to see at night or the day. We had taxis cancel our ride because of this. A bigger sign maybe? Expected more from a 4 star hotel.

With some mixed reviews I wasnβt sure what to expect at Kildonan, but I was pleasantly surprised. Myself and a family member enjoyed a beautiful 3-night stay in this hotel, which truly has a homely vibe. With great transport links from the city centre we arrived within 20 minutes. Hamza greeted us warmly on arrival, helped us check in, and kindly showed us to our room, which was quietly situated away from the main house. The grounds were well-kept, and our room overlooked a quaint little garden. Despite ample parking nearby, it remained a peaceful spot. The room was modern yet cozy, with thoughtful touches such as bottled water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies. A flat-screen TV, plenty of storage, and a bath all added to the comfort. Whenever we needed assistance, receptionists were just a phone call away and always dealt with queries professionally. Housekeeping staff were cheerful, asking daily if we wanted our room cleaned or snacks replenished. Ricardo at the main desk was another highlight β friendly, humorous, and professional, he made us feel right at home. On our last day, with a late train to catch, the hotel kindly stored our luggage. When we returned, a lovely receptionist even welcomed us to enjoy some tea before heading off, which was a thoughtful touch. The only downside was accessibility: stairs are unavoidable in most areas, and although some ground-level rooms exist, they are limited. This could be a challenge for less mobile guests. Overall, Kildonan was welcoming, comfortable, and full of friendly faces. I would happily return and recommend it for a relaxing stay.

We loved our stay at the Kildonan Lodge Hotel. We could opt to walk to Old Town, or easily "tap on" to the bus at the bus stop outside the front door. We stayed in the Four Poster (Black Watch) room. It was well-appointed and very comfortable. The shower was hot. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff made sure we always had enough. They were attentive at every turn. They also went out of their way to return my cell phone to me, which was lost and then recovered, and not at their hotel. They willingly took responsibility for it and then took extra care in packing it and including all the necessary paperwork so it could be returned to me in the States. I received it in 3 days. This kind of attentive service and accountability is rare these days. You can't go wrong in choosing the Kildonan Lodge Hotel.

Staff were absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble. We arrived earlier than check in but as our room was ready they let us check in anyway. Room was lovely and clean and the bed comfy. Breakfast was amazing too, like that your could preorder the day before and give a time youβd go. The building is older so creaks from floors and doors is expected, whilst on a main road it is set back so night time road noise was hardly noticeable. Would definitely return.

Bad experience. We went for holidays to Scotland for more than 15 days and this hotel was the worst of all in terms of quality/price. It was super expensive and the quality of the room was average/bad. There were things super old and even broken. Notable lack of maintenance. There were cracking noises during the night on top of us. We liked that the situation was convenient to get to the center by bus. But we believe that for a little more you can get a better hotel closer to the center.

This was our first stay of a 4 city by train tour of Scotland, and boy did the Kildonan "set the bar very high". The small and very friendly staff was accommodating, polite, and knowledgeable. Our room was incredible, the bar downstairs was delightful, and useful after long walking days. We awoke to the fantastic smell of pork frying, coffee brewing, and walked right down to our fresh, and very full breakfast that we pre-ordered the night before. Wow, what a way to begin your day. We even had reservations which helped support our busy days here. The home is fabulously decored, the location, a tad far from the Royal Mile, but don't fret, the very affordable, clean and convenient bus stop is right across the street! We actually walked home twice since it's downhill. We really enjoyed our stay here, as well as the staff that took such good care of us too! Highly recommend!

Had a wonderful experience here- the staff gets five stars! They were so kind, helpful, and happy during our stay. We got one of the cheapest rooms and it was still lovely. Definitely small but had a comfortable bed. Itβs an older building so youβll notice some cosmetic defects. A fan wouldβve been nice in our room for the hot summer night. I donβt mind the sound of cars outside the window, but keep in mind it seems the road the hotel is on might lead to a hospital so ambulances went by occasionally. Breakfast was wonderful with many different options. We were able to walk to Edinburgh city center the first day and easily take the bus the second day- thereβs a bus stop right outside the hotel. Good experience overall!

Were treated like royalty. Very accommodating. Comfortable beds, very clean. Wonderful breakfast was served to order with lots of options. Arrived early and left the area late after check out. Our luggage was stored and we were welcomed and served coffee in the lounge area although we were checked out. Helpful with bus info and tour ideas. Bus was directly across the street and very convenient to everywhere we went, arriving about every 5 minutes from this stop and from city center to get back to hotel. Had the standard arctic weather down comforters that make you either sweat if it's on or freeze when it's off, but that's standard. Not sure what that's about especially in summer and in a room with no a/c. But, it's the trend in every hotel we stayed in.
