I stayed at Thistle Residence in Edinburgh for one night and had a great experience. The room was comfortable and clean, and the location is very convenient β especially if youβre travelling by car. The host was extremely helpful and friendly, which made the short stay even better. Iβd happily come back!

My room was lovely and cosy - the ensuite although small was clean, the shower was excellent and there was plenty of loo paper even though I only stayed for four nights. All the linen smelt fresh and they provided me with a wonderful variety of green tea, which they said I could take with me when I leave! I found the temperature comfortable without having the radiator on (I was there at the end of Sept - beginning of October). Another plus is that the place is very close to a large swimming pool, a variety of shops and cafes and Arthur's Seat. Breakfast wasn't provided but we wanted to go to the cafes anyway for brunch. The house has a tranquil and well-cared for atmosphere and I enjoyed my stay very much. I thoroughly recommend The Thistle House guest house.

Tired property, very small bathroom, linens clean but musty. Heat didnβt work. Inadequate lighting in room. No breakfast included. Window lacked security lock. It was acceptable not exceptional.

Nice experience. Spent 3 nights in a single room. The house was clean and smelling nice. The room had a sink, hand-soap, kettle with coffee and milk, a comfortable bed, towel, etc. The bathroom was outside, but next to the room. It was also really clean. The staff was very kind. I did not try the breakfast however.

Good situated. In 10 min walking time is the Cameron Toll shopping centre with a McDonalds and a Costa. In 5 min walking is a pub but we haven't visited it. Public parking at the road is limited. The owner let us park our motorcycles on his private parking space. Thanks again for that! The rooms are quiet small but ok. Nice to look and good beds. The bathroom of room no 5 is a No-Go! In the left upper corner was an area of about 50 x 40 cm of mould! It smelled and it's urgently necessary that this will refurbished. And the bathroom is very small. Too expensive for the service. Friendly staff.

The owner couple were very nice, however, they need to change a lot if they want the accommodation to be popular. If not for the owner's very nice attitude, I probably rate this 1-star. First of all, even though on the website, they said we can pay by card, apparently, we can't. I received a text that I need to bring cash, which was extremely weird. Secondly, the room was quite big, and this is its lethal point at this time of the year. The two nights I stayed at the house were extremely cold (there was a big snow) and with the radiator's position was very random - very far from the bed and the window, it didn't help much. Not to mention it was barely warm at all. I have asthma and I immediately caught the flu which ruined my whole trip in Edinburgh. I wanted to stay and rest if possible as well, but with the only entertaining device in the room broken (the TV), there's nothing much to do. After telling the owner, who promised to take a look, there is no change, except for the fact that he rearranged the plugs to its original position. No apologies offered. He just straight out ignored me. That's why I didn't even bother to ask about the radiator. Plus the room was stone cold all the time, I can't even rest at all. I was awaking all night and felt terrible in the morning. Finally, before I forget, the room smells and very far from the city centre. It doesn't worth it. The reason they can't afford to have the radiator warmer and fix the TV is that they kept their room in such bad condition. No one would ever recommend this place to their friends if they don't change. My advice to anyone looking at spending their time in this accommodation is, don't waste your money. For that price, just find rooms in ibis or travelodge. It would be much closer to the city and better condition as well.

We left our iPhone charger there and never got it back despite many many promises made over the phone...For breakfast we were able to chose from eggs scrambled or fried, alternatively we could have corn flakes. Room was also not very pleasant (dirty, smelly). Avoid.

This guesthouse is not very close to the city centre but it is located in a very nice neighbourhood and there is a Bus stop 1 minute away where you can get a bus and be in the city centre in 15 minutes (a daily pass is only 4Β£ and it is worth it). All the staff is lovely and very efficient. All around inside the guesthouse everything is clean, comfortable and the breakfast is very good and served with care. Our room was very comfortable and clean, the heating was very good, and they provide a kettle and a tray with coffee, tea, cream wich makes you feel very cosy and welcomed.
