   As the others stated, the hotel is very outdated. The floors are uneven and tbe windows do let a lot of noise in. They need to be honest and update the pictures. The dining area was nice and relaxing serving coffee, tea and alch drinks Front desk was nice and responsive. I was also charged an amount days before I even checked in which was strange. They didn't return it so I had to involve my bank to return the money.

   Room on first floor overlooking the Christmas market,great view. 1 star off as heater wasn't on when we arrived and had to ask reception to fix the issue. The noise from outside was bad be prepared for this as the windows are listed I believe and are single glazed. We had to put cardboard in the side to stop them rattling. Location is excellent,5 mins walk from train station. Service charge added if you order your drinks at the bar even if not waiter service. No breakfast menu,I asked if they served porridge,which they did but you have to ask. No choice of egg on buffet.Would not book breakfast again. We would stay again with a few tweaks. Hope this helps with your stay.

   The positive things are the comfy beds, the room services, the helpful staff and the location of the hotel. It’s in the heart of the city, monuments, old city, shops, museums.. all are at a walking distance, which makes it an ideal stay for tourists. Especially the non smoking tourists. If you are one of those that wants to go out and have a cigarette for a couple of minutes at peace, well good luck. Apart from those, I’m sad to say, this place needs some major renovation and rethinking by the owner. Power outages made all of us feel a bit on the edge, and on the 6th floor the water comes out of the sink and the shower with air, thus making showering not that pleasant. Hopefully that is not something occurring often, perhaps we were the unlucky ones. The bathrooms were not designed to be functional, you can tell that the engineers were probably not giving much attention by just having a look at the bathtubs and their height, the lack of safety rails, the position of the sink. One entrance, I have not seen a second emergency exit, and just by entering you can tell the hotel is not wheelchair/disabled people/elderly/people with mobility issues/luggage-friendly. Stairs. Stairs at the entrance, stairs to reach the reception, stairs to reach the elevator. Doors of the rooms are old, same goes for the locks. That is not necessarily bad but some of them are chipped, battered, surely they have seen better days. Lastly, noise insulation: although the rooms are ok and I can just hardly hear the tv from next door, I can hear every single shout and car from outside. I trust that with more modern window frames this could be improved, alas the ones the rooms have must be decades old. All in all, an ok stay, perhaps for UK standards.

   We had a great stay at the Old Waverly Hotel. First off, the beds were actually very comfortable (which I have found to be rare in Europe) and we were plenty warm. The rooms are so charming and had spectacular views of both the Castle and the Scott's memorial. Its centrally located and you can easily get to everywhere in a short walk. Service was great and the breakfast was delicious each morning. I would absolutely go back!

   Fantastic stay at the Old Waverley Hotel. Like most other hotels they were able to look after my bags as I arrived a few hours before check in. I was lucky enough to have a room with a wee bit of a view of Edinburgh Castle. The next 2 mornings I woke up early to have breakfast and managed to get a table overlooking the castle also. Breakfast was nice and filling. Rooms were very clean and tidy, rooms were also very quiet. The location is perfect to the train station and the busses are virtually right outside the front doorstep. I went to see The Royal Yacht Britannia and by the time I left the front doorstep of the hotel, I was at the Royal Yacht within 30 minutes. I 100% would be happy to stay here again when I come back.

   A group of 4 booking 2 rooms for 3 nights We had 2 double rooms which wasn't ideal for 2 adult brothers, but reception changed after one night. They even took there belongings to new room. Its hotel is two mins from railway,the entrance between shops but easily found. There is no lift to reception (Web site does state clearly) our rooms were clean tidy and stocked with coffee tea and biscuits. The staff are all very pleasant. The breakfast was a full hot breakfast,cereal, yogurt,fruit and pastries. Plenty of choices. Dinner was really good value and cooked fresh. The dining area good looking and very comfy. There is a bar area although not enough seats.the hotel is central to attractions. A superb stay. Thank you all

   Great location. The service was average. Not handicap accessible. The beds have springs poking all night. The pillows were good. Bathroom was a good size. We traveled to Paris, to London to Scotland. This is the absolute worst place we have stayed.

   Classic older hotel. Comfortable. Good bar. Room was fine. But BE WARNED. There is no lift from the street to the lobby. They will help with your bags but it’s a PITA.
