Really liked our 3 nt stay here. The place is dated but that adds to the charm of it. The location is really good and only a short walk to the centre of town. Breakfast is available (not a cooked breakfast) but you can get cereals, bars, smoothies and other small items up to 15 items per person delivered to your door each morning using a tick sheet you leave downstairs with coffee available downstairs. We enjoyed our stay and would be happy staying here again.

We chose this hotel for the decent price, good location, and good architecture. It meets those marks, to be fair. The website we booked it through gave the impression it would have a proper breakfast; as other comments outline, they give you a printed spreadsheet where you choose what you want for breakfast the day before. The choices are all very cheap items from the supermarket, and they put it in a sack by your door at about 11PM. There's no fridge in the room, so items like milk and yoghurt can only be consumed for breakfast after sitting out all night, the whole experience just isn't pleasant and if given then choice I would have saved whatever money they spent on it and gone out in the morning for something proper. As others mentioned, there are weird signs in a lot of places, which all seem to be in lieu of having staff around. It's a pity, because if this place was properly run and freshened up it would be a wee gem. No elevator and no ground floor rooms, so I wouldn't recommend it if you can't bring your bags up a flight or two of stairs.

It's okay to sleep there. You get a before selected breakfast delivered to your room. It's a 15 minute walk from the tram station. It's nothing special but okay for just 1 or 2 nights

Fine bit of architecture and very friendly staff. We had a room way up at the top, which gave us fine early morning views. We knew about the breakfast arrangements in advance, but still found that experience a bit weird.....a hangover from covid days, perhaps. Great location and free parking at certain times.

Room was very clean but small. There is no lift and a lot of stairs so take this into account if you have mobility problems. Conveniently situated. .

Fantastic hotel to stay in. Nice to see old architecture kept. Owners were lovely and very helpful. Room was warm and cosy, comfortable beds and all amenities there. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for 2 nights with friends. Hotel was conveniently situated for town centre. Rooms were spotlessly clean but deco a little on the tired side .on arrival we were told that they did not do a cooked breakfast and instead were handed a form on which we had to pick up to 10 items which would be delivered to our door in the morning. These consisted of pre packed cereals croissants butter jam yoghurt cheese and crackers .the problem with this was there were no tables in the room and the plates and bowls were cardboard and the knives and spoons were wooden.

Lovely place to stay for a break helpful and friendly hosts. We are in our late 70s and found the stairs a problem, but we will be back.

The Terrace Hotel is an excellent value hotel in a great location to see Edinburgh. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the rooms are clean and spacious. The largest downside is the lack of a hot Scottish breakfast. They have yet to revert from the grocery bag style breakfast after the pandemic and it's unclear why. Our nitpicks include finicky showers (either scalding hot or ice cold water), tiny TVs, and slightly uncomfortable beds. Bottom line, great value if you can set aside some minor creature comforts.

Wonderful room - great view of Edinburgh (top floor). The man running the restaurant is quite funny. Impressive and well kept building. Breakfast is a bit cheap but I liked that it was served at the room. Bonus points for the Excel spreadsheet and 1995 Wordart.
