We stayed at Monosuites Edinburgh for four nights and were extremely pleased with its central location. It is within walking distance of most top tourist attractions. However, it is worth noting that the accommodation is on a very busy road, with heavy traffic both day and night. Earplugs are provided upon arrival, which is a thoughtful touch. We were really disappointed to find out on the morning of our arrival that Monosuites was unable to provide us with the ‘special assistance’ we had requested, even though it was stated in our booking (we booked via LastMinute.com, so this could be an issue on their end). Additionally, our booking clearly indicated that we had a baby with us, yet we were placed on the top floor of the building—64 steps up! Carrying a pram that far was quite a challenge. The apartments do have a locker service on the entry level, which costs £8 per night (£32 for our four-night stay). After one trip up the stairs with the pushchair, we quickly realised we wouldn’t be able to manage it again, so we opted to use the locker. However, the process to book and access the lockers was unnecessarily complicated. The apartment itself was welcoming, clean, and spacious. It’s worth noting that the room is located above a restaurant and can get quite warm—even in March, we found ourselves opening windows and using fans. The thermostat showed a high of 26°C, giving an idea of the warmth. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment, which provided plenty of space for the four of us. The kitchen was adequately equipped with basic utensils for cooking and cleaning. It included a dual hob, microwave, and fridge but had no oven, which was a little inconvenient. We were also disappointed that there was no toaster. The bathroom initially appeared clean, but we soon discovered that the shower gel pump wasn’t working. Upon removing the bottle from the stand, we noticed it was full of mold—not ideal! One final issue to mention: the living room door was propped open with a doorstop, and underneath it, we found a large screw screwed into the flooring. This could have easily been stepped on or crawled over by our baby, potentially causing serious injury. This is a health and safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately.

Great modern apartment in old town Edinburgh. Central to everything you want. A little bit hard to find but very private in a busy area. Amazing view of Arthur's Seat from our top floor room. Made all the stairs worth it!

Loved the location of hotel. Hadn't done non-staff check in before. Received text morning of my check-in date with details on accessing building and room. All went smooth on that front. Was concerned that there text indicated staff only available from 0900-1600. I booked a one bedroom suite as there were 3 of us. Room was big with nice layout. Plenty of towels provided along with nice amenities. Cleaniness of room was lacking. Shower had mold on bottom of wall. Electric kettle had mold inside also. Hot water ran out after 2 showers; and neither shower was all that long. As previous rater mentioned, it is loud. Doors closing were heard very clearly in room along with conversations in hallway. Also could hear people in next room. Ear plugs were provided which was big indicator that night would be noisy. Also note that there is no elevator so hauling luggage up narrow staircase can be challenging.

What an amazing location! Just steps from the Royal Mile and other key spots in Edinburgh. Because the location is so great, it can be loud outside at night - we moved the fan into the bedroom by the window and that managed the noise really well for us, but they were kind enough to provide ear plugs as well. We really appreciated having the kitchen area to be able to prepare breakfast and store food/drink in the fridge. The check-in process was incredibly smooth - instructions were clear and timely and I appreciated how everything was sent both via email and text. The only issue we had was with the cleanliness. Everything seemed to have a layer of dust on it including oven vent, bathroom vent, shower head and more which was odd. Kitchen table area was greasy. All the bedding/towels/etc were very clean, it just seemed like surfaces/walls could use a little extra care. Nonetheless we would definitely stay here again when we come back to Edinburgh!

Cosy , clean , brand new suites, very well equipped. 5 minutes walking from train station. In the heart of the old town. All tourism’s attractions are nearby . Highly recommend.

Absolutely intolerable lying and underhanded treatment from Mono Suites management! This trip was originally planned for 2020 and involved booking several rooms for an annual event in Edinburgh. When the UK shut down for COVID, the manager took the opportunity to gouge us on rebooking. She refused to simply slide the booking to the corresponding weekend the next year. Instead, she first wanted us to cancel (without getting a refund) and then book a "new" reservation (because they had more than doubled their prices). Eventually, she promised us a guaranteed rate if we cancelled and then rebooked. (She would keep our money and then increase the rate by "only" 35% when we rebooked.) However, when we attempted to do this, she then placed multiple new conditions in our way. When I sent her a copy of her e-mail promising us the guaranteed rate to use our "credit," she said, "Demand has changed. I can now get more for those rooms." The manager lied and broke every promise that she made. In the end, she made it unreasonable to use our "credit" at any time that corresponded to the event we had originally booked for in the first place. The manager was absolutely shameless in her lies and in using the pandemic to deceptively squeeze more money out of guests. There are better hotels in Edinburgh without such corrupt management.

On the one one hand, you’re close to everything — which means you can walk to it. On the other hand, you’re close to everything — which means the streets are noisy till 3 am on a weekend and it’s hard to sleep. The temp in Edinburgh is cool so, theoretically, it should be cool in your room too. But the windows are set up to let just enough noise in without also allowing air circulation. On the plus side, the finishes and furnishings are new and clean, and the human-less check in and check out process was easy. But overall, we rated this as a solid “Okay.” We’d seek other other accommodations if we travel to Edinburgh again.

49 steps to get to our room was a surprise! No A/C was the next surprise. Had to keep windows open for air to circulate. Needed ceiling fans to help circulate air. Good location for Royal mile. Modern facilities too. But noisy street with windows open.

Extremely noisy place to stay, even with earplugs it was hard to sleep. The bus stop across the street seemed to attract loud drunk people. Would recommend staying a little further away from the Royal Mile if you want a decent nights sleep.
