The hotel is only 20/30 minute walk to the centre and the bed itself was really comfy. Unfortunately, the shower couldnt decide between burning hot and freezing cold, the room was basic with no tea and coffee and we had to pay Β£15 for overnight parking. Left feeling pretty underwhelmed considering the price, but ok for just the 1 night

Great option for a stay with easy access to the airport and city center via a bus stop right across the street, friendly staff, and beautiful rooms! Iβve already recommended to a friend, especially if youβre traveling in a group. We stayed in their larger room with 4 beds and it was a great change of pace at the end of our trip through Scotland.

Best position, right in front of the bus stop served by 2 buses for the city center and the airlink bus for the airport, and also close to Haymarket train station. You can find also a Tesco close by and many different places to eat. The hotel is old but clean enough. The only thing I found troublesome was the lacking of AC/heating, as at night I was feeling cold and could only wear an additional shirt to sleep. The rooms are not fully soundproofed, you can hear people walking around and talking, but we were able to sleep, the other guests were not loud luckily.

We booked a standard double room for two people. When we arrived around 2 AM after a long trip, we unlocked the room only to find it as cold as Siberia. Exhausted, we just wanted to take a shower, but there were no towels prepared in the room β even though they were supposed to be provided. The so-called βdouble bedβ was nothing more than a slightly larger single bed, and the bedding itself was dirty. The doors were paper-thin, so you could hear absolutely everything: people walking, talking, slamming around β no privacy at all. To make things worse, we were given a room adapted for disabled guests, which meant everything was oddly low and uncomfortable. The sink was so low you practically had to kneel down just to brush your teeth. The reception was not available overnight, so we had no choice but to sleep in that freezing, uncomfortable room. The next morning, I went to the front desk to request the room type we had actually booked β only to be told it was βnot available.β No compensation, no upgrade, no attempt to make our stay even slightly more comfortable. Just pure indifference and lack of care. Housekeeping was just as bad. After two days, our towels were finally changed, but the βnewβ ones were filthy β one of them was literally stained with lipstick. Completely unacceptable. For the price we paid, this was a disgrace. Absolutely would NOT recommend β you can find far better options for the same money.

Very efficient service, check in was a breeze, as well as check out process. Location was great, with bus stops right at the front, easy access to get anywhere in the city. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Found some rubbish under the bed but more importantly is that everywhere else in the room, the bed, and the bathroom is very clean and lovely. Room was cosy and warm when outside was freezing cold.

The hotel is stylish and very well located - right next to a bus stop on direct line to the airport, several buses to the center as well as a quick walk to Haymarket. The staff was very friendly and professional. The room interior was fine, fitting for the price/number of stars. Shower was spacious enough. We also had a great view from the hotel window. We ordered the cooked breakfast and it was very nice, we enjoyed it, but we also saw what the buffet/continental offer looked like and I wouldn't recommend it for that price - it was an extremely basic selection of fruit, scrambled eggs and one type of cheese. Overall we had absolutely no issues and our stay was good.

Room was smelly, a water bottle from a previous occupant was still there. The water pressure was close to inexistant - the hotel workers were not helpful when asked for some recommendations to eat around the area. The next day when we asked to leave our bag for a few hours they were again super unhelpful and none of them seemed to care. It would have been all fine if the hotel was cheap but it was 144 pound for a humidity filled not properly cleaned hotel room. I would advice itβs not worth your money.

Positives: Good layout of room, spacious and clean linen. Friendly staff. Room key opens front door so able to come and go - only ring bell for entry when you first arrive. Bus stops outside of hotel so handy to get into town & back (number 31 bus - cheaper than number 100). Good amount of tea, coffee, milk & Sugar available in room. Negatives: Floor and bed were creaky, woke me up during the night each time one of us shifted position. Β£10 for parking after spending alot on room isn't ideal - should give free parking. Feels a bit outdated. No plug near kettle & drink making facilities, had to move it to plug socket on floor to boil (could have put it onto side table by bed but that was too close to smoke detector so didn't want to chance it). Found sweet wrappers under 2 of the beds. Did not eat here.

Want to say one more time big THANK YOU for the hotel team. Amazing, honest and very helpful people working here. It meant to be a weekend trip to Edinburgh and we meant to stay in a different hotel. Apparently happened that hotel what we booked sold our room for someone else without notifying us about it. When we arrived from airport at the midnight we hadn't place where to stay we didn't know about this. Thankfully we found Cumberland Hotel and tried our luck to go there. Person who were working till late did more than we expected. He wasn't receptionist so that's normal he didn't know how to deal with late check in and procedures what hotel have. He didn't bother to call manager (I'm very sorry the lady manager for late call) and asked what he have to do. Long story short, only because of this incredible team we got place where to stay in the middle of night. Rooms was clean and tidy. Atmosphere cozy. Bed sheets smells so nice. Quiet. Good location. We got more than we were expecting. If I'll be planning my next trip to Edinburgh definitely I'll be coming to Cumberland Hotel β€οΈ
