A cherished independent cinema that retains its original 1930s Art Deco character. With its single screen, classic auditorium, and unique "Moby Dick" whale feature, it offers an authentic, nostalgic film-going experience distinct from modern multiplexes, emphasizing atmosphere and community.

Stepping into the Dominion Cinema felt like a trip back in time! This place is a true gem, offering a cozy and classic movie-going experience with a great cafe bar. It's the perfect escape from modern multiplexes and a must-visit for any film lover.

Buyer beware. This place is a disgrace and a sham. I am really disappointed about this place. I booked a movie for my partner’s birthday because it looked like a lovely place to go. It was not. Immediately after sitting down, the downstairs theatre is so stuffy and I could barely breathe. I asked staff and the manager to turn on fan in the vents. The manager lied to my face and said that the vents can’t do a fan setting. He said it can only do heat but they just took the heat off (it was 17 degrees all day). I wasn’t asking for air conditioning, I was just asking for some air circulation. The manager basically shrugged and said he will put the money on my account and we can try again some other time. I just hope no one else goes through this. Especially on a birthday celebration. A theatre should be breathable and it should be comfortable. Especially at this price.

Beautiful cinema with the comfiest seats and amazing staff. A proper luxury night for my birthday. We got seats G2 and G3 in the gold one, right next to the exit and great view of the screen for anyone who likes sitting on the end like myself lol. The first class tickets came with table service at your seat in the cinema for 40 minutes before the film began and they played some musicals on the screen like grease and mama Mia. They have snacks like crisps and dip and some hot food like hot dogs and plenty of drinks. Definitely recommend best cinema in Edinburgh!!!

Absolutely fabulous experience, and great value for money. Went with my daughter and we both loved the ambience, the comfort of the reclining sofas, and the opportunity to receive table service at our seats. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The whole place feels clean, fresh and positively stands out from the cinemas run by the large franchises such as Odeon and Vue Cinemas. It’s a family run business in its third generation. They deserve praise for not just competing with the large chain run cinemas but beating them for quality and service. No hesitation at all to give the place 5 stars for a 5 star experience.

Wonderful independent cinema. Love the refreshed décor - art deco style to match the building. Has all the usual films and new releases and some good different matinee options too. Great staff, beautiful interior, comfy chairs (one or two of the foot rests don't work but you can get a footstool instead) - the whole thing makes for a special night out not just a trip to a cinema.

Great cinema, super comfy seats, lovely Art Deco interior. Good wine selection. Friendly staff. Could maybe do with more dishes on the menu. Currently just hot dogs and nachos.

The best cinema in Edinburgh - hands down. This is the cinema experience as it should be. The fabulous staff make sure you're treated like a highly valued guest; the food and drinks are served in glasses, and on plates and the chairs are the most comfortable I've experienced. Go first class! For a fraction more than a standard cinema ticket, you're made to feel like a VIP. Just love it.

It's cinema, Jim, but not as we know it. An amazing place — the architecture! the decor! the reclining leather sofas! alcohol... and it's served in glasses! — and if that isn't enough, the staff are cheery and welcoming — personality goes a long way. If it were closer, I wouldn't ever go to any other cinema.
